I can understand why Jazz is taking some time to happen, quite apart from the licensing issue. Getting a Porsche into an animation accurate robot would be hella tricky, and I for one, would only want someone of the calibre of the dude who desined the Lamborghini and Datsuns on it. The 'it'll do' mindset of Magnus, Ironhide and Hot Rod just isn't good enough.
That goes for Mirage and Sunstreaker too.

No he bloody well isn't! Just because he had a red belt and didn't separate into a white Prime + trailer the internet collapsed and everyone went crying to their mummies! He's fupping fantastic and I'll punch anyone who says otherwise!

Honestly, I've not seen anything to make me dislike him, but I've not seen him in the flesh. Plastic. He looks servicable, if a little uninspired. I will say, though, the lack of red squares on his legs bothers me.

I don't think magnus is bad as such, but it seems to lack the attention to detail I expect from masterpiece toys.
Basically I dont like the back of robot mode at all.
Or to put it another way they did a worse job of the concept than the titaium line. The bloody titanium line!

Finally here after TFS Express/OmegaLock messed up my pre-order.
This is one impressive figure, except for the inner leg flaps. The clip seems a little too tight and makes me worry it will damage the flap rather than the clip (which would then ruin the exterior of the van).
Particularly impressed with the way the upper body all folds in to itself. You have the top of the van and front door windows folding over itself and the side windows attached to the arms on the inside and folding over, whilst the front windscreen covers over.
Throw in the accessories, this is one of my favourite Masterpieces.

Thats not a bad price. But Im still unsure, could there be a better Ironhide down the line?
I dont like this waiting around for reissue variants. Powered Convoy finally happened but whose to say Marvel Ratchet or toy Shockwave will.

It is a gamble I agree.
I'm sure the cartoon Red Alert has only appeared because of the potential sales boost announcing Inferno at the same time. Takara seem firm on cartoon colours and Diaclone repaints now - anything else is a gamble.
