Regarding recent QC issues found in Masterpiece Hound: Regarding the factories, different materials were used in Vietnam but they were unaware how they would pan out for Hound as they were unaware of what the results will be. They know of the breakages right now, but no decision has been made for a future re-release or if they will change the factories or materials.

Regarding the recent constant price increment: Takara Tomy booth director mentioned that fans have overly demanded for the cartoon aesthetic. So in other to pull off the cartoon aesthetic while maintaining the proper alt mode, the number of parts for each figure has gone up compared to the Masterpiece Datsuns or Wheeljack. The cost of materials has also gone up which also contributes to the rise in pricing. On this matter, Gamelingual let him know that many fans feel that they will be forced to quit the hobby if the prices become too expensive. The response was that this this is something they have discussed with the executives and it contributes to the decisions of what figures will be made next.

That comment about Hound isn't really an acceptable excuse. "We didn't know if it'd be any good or not, so we shipped it anyway." That's not an acceptable excuse in my profession as a software developer, but even in that at least if you ship something faulty you can also ship a fix - you can't do that for a physical object. They're essentially saying that they didn't bother testing anything before shipping it to retail. Which just confirms what we've long thought about Takara's QC process...

What's worrying about this is the number of people on Tfw2005 who report having figures that are OK only to resurface a few weeks later to state that theirs has developed cracks just sitting on the shelf.

Hello everyone, I’m new to the board here
A few days ago I thought I’d check out the holes in my MP collection, and realised Kapow has Sunstreaker and Hound in stock, so I went ahead and ordered them! The I saw all the reports of Hound’s QC issues :-o

They have arrived but I’m not sure whether to just send Hound straight back and wait for a reissue. Has anyone got any updates as to how their Hound has held up in the last few months?

Anyone got experience with any of the MP Hound KOs? Doesn't look like TakTom are going to do a revised edition and it is a sad looking hole in my cabinet.

By KO do you mean 3P versions, or actual knock offs of the Takara mould?

I prefer the FT Willis to the Takara one, it fits better aesthetically with the earlier MP style. Much less cartoony. However, that I think has also been gone a while and probably costs just as much as the MP would.
