Fanstoys and Maketoys will be worried. We did guess that Hound would be on Takara's list somewhere. I would have expected Ratchet to be MP28, if Ironhide is MP27. I'd rather have seen Jazz next, or Mirage, but Hound's cool, if it's true of course. Hound hovers in the limbo area between MPs I want and MPs I don't want.

I reaaaaally personally think that the 3Ps have a bigger audiance making these guys in the classics range over MP.
They're all so desperate to do a popular MP, that they're all hitting characters that TakaraTomy are most likely to do.
And they're usually not very masterpiece.
However, scaled down they would be excellent deluxes, and would hit the normal collector who don't feel that hasbro's classics updates were G1 enough.
We KNOW there's going to be an MP Hound. We KNOW there's going to be an MP Sunstreaker, and Jazz.
These are 100% givens. It's only a matter of time.
It's not like it was with the combiner glut. Up until CW, every thing we ever had been told by hasbro is that full scale modern style combiners are absolutely financially unfeasible.
However, there hasn't been a classics range Hound or Sunstreaker in years, and those weren't terribly accurate to start with (Good enough for me, though). And the CW ones hasbro just announced are even less accurate.
So I can see there being a better market here for these.
The 3P market has suddenly turned stupid, waisting time and resources on these. If they're determined to try to do MPs, they're best focusing on characters with low to no likelihood of ever getting an MP release.
Dinobots: medium to low chances.
Blurr, Kup, Cyclonus: medium to low chances
Headmasters, Targetmasters: low to NO chances
'84, '85 autobot diaclone cars: 100%.
I will laugh if Hound is announced to be the next one. And I will be very tempted to buy him on that fact alone.

What Jetty said, I am avoiding all the '84 cars in 3rd party form, simply because there is no point.
I hope TT do actually confirm this some time soon though.

Hoping they do Mirage soon too. He hasn't had a new figure since Classics 1.0, which was... 8 years ago. Daaang.
I think Maketoys had the right idea doing Chromedome, Inferno and Grapple. Domey hasn't even been reissued, and Inferno's reissue did not do so well.

That's a very thin waist and the legs look decidedly odd, but it is well past time we had a new G1 MP revealed. The line is all anime reissues now. This looks like an April fool picked up after the event.

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if a Hound was in the works. I was super tempted by Sunsurge last year, and then official Sunstreaker happened. And I've been looking at a couple of 3rd party Hounds since Christmas...

That's the Maketoys one. They did an anime colour and toy colour version I think. I did like him, but felt the Fans Toys one fit with the Takara figures better.

It looks great, but i wish it had come out before they went so far towards the cartoon. Some chrome and extra detailing would have been nice.
