Wait, Phil hasn't seen The Winter Soldier?!?!?!?! I don't think we need to go into which Marvel Movies I have/haven't seen again. Martin will get upset and angry if we do. Ralph also monitors this list. -Ralph

Caught sight of the Avengers on telly the other night, man the early MCU Cap costumes are awful. Compared to where we are now they look like dodgy cosplays. Sorry, fancydressupisms.

I did not like Civil War. It was really boring, the cinematography was horrendous (it nearly made me sick several times, and it gave me a migraine), and every time bucky was on screen I wished someone would shoot him in the head.
The best parts were Spiderman, Antman, and Black Panther.

Ha ha silly Phil what a fool!!! (neither have I ) If you haven't seen it because you don't actually own a copy, then you aren't as guilty of as serious crimes against reason as Phil. Re: Civil War. There's a lot of little things that annoy me - e.g. Hawkeye and Ant-Man too easily throwing aside their lives as fathers of young children to become fugitives from the UN, the way Scarlet Witch's crimes when allied to Ultron count for nothing in the eys of Team Cap, etc. But on the whole, I think it's a good film. It's ambitious and experimental by the standard of superhero films and for that reason I can forgive its imperfections. According to the creative team, they showed various versions to test audiences and asked them by a show of hands at the end who was right and who was wrong, and when they got it so exactly half came down on Cap's side and exactly half on Tony's, they knew they'd achieved their goal. I would put that at the top of my list of reasons why Civil War is a far better film than Dawn of Justice. Re: Cap's uniform, it looked good in the second half of his origin film, but was terrible in Avengers Assemble. Fine again from The Winter Soldier onwards. Martin

I never got a feeling at all of 'who should I root for?' between Cap and Tony at all. It felt like a forced marketing exercise being made into a film rather than something that flowed naturally.

i hope you've watched at least The First Avenger and Avengers previously.
Though I am curious how much sense it would make to someone who hasn't.
Certainly more than Civil Wars must have.

Civil War didn't make much sense with all that context. Though I think Winter Soldier stands on it's own really well. It honestly doesn't lean on any other movie very much. (Dispite as much as I hate Bucky, WS is one of my favorite MCU movies)
I think for CW to make sense, you need to see Antman, CA:WS and AoU. (Antman because he's overall so left field otherwise) But for Ultron to make sense, you need to have seen Ironman 3, Avengers, and CA:WS

Also it was good to have a movie where the ending isn't everyone fighting endless faceless goons while a blue laser shoots into the sky

As everyone knows, Marvel were obsessed with quite some time in getting an Inhumans movie made. Hence why Inhumans themselves were HEAVILY promoted in the comics for years. Eventually, plans changed so it is a TV show instead, the start of which is playing in IMAX on the 1st of September. This has amused me a great deal so booked to see it. Marvel (sort of) finally got Inhumans on the big screen! I am curious to see how it turned out.

The clips I've seen of it so far looks about as cheesy as their 90s TV movies, Nick Fury and Generation X.

Hmmm. An hours drive to the nearest Imax, but I have seen all the MCU shown at cinema at cinema. Would be a shame to end the run just short of the decade mark, even if this is the TV division and looks a bit pants.
I think I'll have to go.
