Panini don't pay royalties on the Marvel comics they print.

Depends on the contracts signed for the reprint rights, but yes, Ralph is correct in that it's a different topic.
As someone who provides scans, and taken the time to search out bonus material for these books, I'm happy to do it without direct financial reward. My reward is the material being easily available for the fandom. And I know how differently these books would turn out without input from the fans [see IDWs reprints of the US Marvel TF stuff]. Other people's mileage may vary.
Ralph, I understand your decision in not wanting to share whatever original artwork you have for the books, however, as a fan of original TF artwork, if you'd ever like to share photos for my own private consumption I'd love to see it.

I don't know if this is right or just applies to old stuff. But when IDW do the normal tpb ie collect Lost light - they pay the creators for the printed copy but not when it is in tpb form? Just the person who collected the issue & formatted the book & the editor get paid even if the tpb is 4 issues & costs more than the single issues. This may not be true about the IDW stuff & may just apply to the best of UK tpb. So does James Roberts get any money when the MTMTE tpb is released? But they do them endless reprint run don't they? SO you can order a tpb produced a few years ago & they do another print run or they have them in a safe warehouse?

Transformers creators [writers and artists] get paid for creating the work, they do not get royalties. The person who collates the material for the collections I would assume is on salary, rather than being paid for specific work on books.
They will do a print run based off initial orders and their own estimates of how well the book is going to sell. Once that runs out, they decide whether it's worth doing another print run, usually based on demand. This print run will normally be smaller than the original print run, as the books sell best with their initial release. These days digital publishing is also a factor they may consider [for example, if they don't think they'll sell enough to cover a new print run, they can still have the book available via digital distribution].

Not on this week's shipping list from Diamond, so I'd be VERY surprised to see it from Amazon.

I expect James to at least get his copy before the shops get it.

Transmissions said this week that in the US, Amazon pre-orders for Classics v6 are being cancelled because the book is 'no longer being offered by the supplier'. Is that just the distributor pulling it until IDW have it ready? Not actually cancelled, right?

Yeah, I'm not sure who is the supplier to Amazon US, probably Diamond if IDW don't have a book supplier deal with a proper distributor. Basically, Amazon is not a trustworthy source for saying a TPB has been cancelled. The publisher will cancel it first, then Diamond will cancel orders [and say if it's going to be resolicited]. IDW haven't cancelled the book, Diamond haven't cancelled comic shop orders for the book, I get notifications about this stuff. Current Diamond release date is Jan 10th 2018: previewsworld.com/Catalog/NOV160409If that page disappears, the book [on that order code] has been cancelled.

I will be bigly sad if this gets cancelled. July 20 is my 1-year pre-order anniversary.

I wonder how James feels - he's done all this work & has everything done then IDW keep putting it back. & then aren't paying James to do the work either (stated that may be true a few pages back)

Amazon canclling the order does not mean the book is cancelled, merely that they can't get stock within the time they expected to.
As yet it hasn't been resollicited by IDW

Has it ever actually been solicited by IDW?

Info must have come from them to reach Amazon and get an ISBN number, Amazon themselves don't dream them up!
As for if it was solicited like comics and trades were ..... Bear with, this may take some research!
