Loved it.
Much better than Force Awakens.
If this is what the 'Anthology' films are going to be like, then spank this franchise, Disney! SPANK IT FOR ALL IT'S WORTH!
The darker tone was tough, and I was sorry all the heroes died, but I can see why they did it. The film was about sacrifice.
Great characters, great acting, brilliant story that merges so well with New Hope. So THIS is how they got the Death Star plans! THIS is the first battle the Rebels won! And it sorts out a pretty huge plot-hole in New Hope, namely how easy it was to destroy the Death Star.
The action was edge of the seat. I loved the space battle. Seeing the Death Star was so great. And... OHMYGOD.... Darth Vader kicking arse at the end was INCREDIBLE!!!! I did a sex-wee.

Burns, the next time you're in the smoke are we going to have to take you to the Underground station location that you can see in the trailer? Now obviously I spotted the tube station in the film, but this seen isn't in it. Andor's lost his jacket and Jyn's got the data tape so it's after their visit to the archive. But K-2SO is with them! I'd dearly like to hear the story of the original cut.

Home video details announcedUS release date: 24th March(digital)/4th April(physical) UK release date: 10th April US physical options: DVD or Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital HD combo pack UK physical options: DVD, Blu-Ray or Blu-Ray/3D Blu-Ray There's a bunch of features but no deleted scenes, trailers or commentary. US-wise the Target exclusive looks the most promising as it throws in a 3D Blu-Ray, 2 exclusive (but unspecified) features and "interchangeable character covers". Best Buy get the steelbook and also the 3D Blu-Ray. Zavvi have this in the UK (minus the DVD/digital copies).

If Disney are sensible they are saving them for a re-edit version down the line.

Well to be fair we had two versions of The Force Awakens out with that sort of time, the second one with commentary track.

It was for Force Awakens.
I double dipped for that I think I may just try and resist and see what comes along later. Not that Im going to hold my breath I dont rate Disney when it comes to DVD and Blurays. They were one of the first to ditch commentaries and for a large number of Disney classics just point blank refuse to actual list what if any bonus features are included. They still wont release the proper version of a Muppet Christmas Carol either.

I'm not expecting a second release anytime soon. Yeah, they did for TFA but that added in the 3D version (already available in some of the options here) and they announced it at the same time as the regular edition as coming later in the year.

Well to be fair we had two versions of The Force Awakens out with that sort of time, the second one with commentary track. Different situation here though. It is on record that someone else was hired to rewrite and assist on the reshoots to the extent they have partial screenplay credit. The situation of the two versions of the film may be very complicated with contractual implications and gag orders, etc. I'd be surprised if a version closer to the original plan/rough cuts doesn't come out but I doubt for a while. -Ralph

Rogue One Blu-Ray arrived yesterday and the bonus features are slight. Most of the extras are available under "The Stories" for which there is a play all option. That gives a combined running time of roughly 70mins, covering a variety of things, but barely scratching the surface. No talk of the changes the story went through, although if you pause at a couple of points you can read some of John Knoll's original pitch. There's some good bits but generally the videos end just as they seem to be getting started.
The other extra on the bonus disc is "Rogue Connections", which as the name suggests points out connections to the other films/TV series. Or rather some of them. After a few minutes the voice-over guy announces "and there are more connections too" and it just ends.
As expected I went with the Target edition which came with extra extras - two more "Stories" which are quite good, particularly the creature shop one, but they have a combined runtime of around 10 minutes so I wouldn't say it's a big selling point.
I think if Episode VIII's any good I'll just wait for a discount before picking it up on shiny disc.

I rented it tonight out of bordom+ nothing better on tv+ plus everything else being rented out.
This movie is like the polar opposite of The Force Awakens: I loved the main characters, hated the villain, and thought the story was about as stupid as it gets.
Rogue One though, decent enough story that I didn't stop in the middle and scream "WTF?!?" Couldn't care at all about the main characters, though. They were just boring. Better villain than kylo whiner, though. It also felt more like a sci-fi movie, and not fantasy. And certainly didn't have the stupidest science since 2012. I did like some of the side characters. I liked the robot a lot (which is rare. SW robots annoy the hell out of me. Even Chopper, and I actually like Rebels), and I would watch an entire movie about just the two asian guys. Everything about them was way more interesting to me than anything else going on.
All in all, I was not planning on seeing this. Had no reason to, as neither Hera nor Ahsoka were in it. But i don't feel my time or money was waisted, as I did with all the other ones. But i also don't feel I would have missed out had i skipped. It was enjoyable enough, though.
