An envelope has just plopped on the mat here. I guess that must be what it is. I just started reading House of Daemon last night too. Very much enjoying reveling in stories I actually do remember from reading 35 years ago.

Apart from the fact Ortiz is an absolutely fantastic artist, these are helped by the fact they come from that early period for the New Eagle when it was printed on decent quality paper. I always used to think that was to help the reproduction on the photo stories, but with hindsight these strips are the real winners.

He is indeed a fantastic artist. Not someone on my radar too much when I was younger, but I have a real appreciation of now.

Let's hope that sends a message to all that these stories are highly sought after. I just started reading it tonight, such a great opening. This would have made a great film given the recent glut of post apocalypse movies we've had.

I would surmise there is a vast untapped market for vintage UK strips as so little of it has been reprinted compared to US comics. It will be interesting to see how Rebellion's Vintage Comics line sells. Misty is getting a second volume, for example.
The Tower King likely will have had a very small print run but to sell out in under a week for a second printing is still impressive!

Hibernia on FB reports that 'The Lawless Touch' from Tornado comic is the reprint comic bagged with Judge Dredd Magazine #382. I am pleased. That format seems a natural home for material from this archive that wouldn't support full price trades. -Ralph wait a minute, this didn't happen did it?

The editorial in #2053 says the Scream/Misty special is out this coming week. Let's hope this is being done sensibly and not like the 'OMG IT SOLD OUT IN MINUTES!' silliness of the previous few special issues.
I also got the sub renewal badge set in the post today - they're nice enamel jobs. Pinwig likes badges.

Indeed.
Although I think when they trumpet the sold out thing they are more talking about at a distributor level, given how shitty WH Smith are in terms of comics distro, they would have no idea if it's sold out at a retail level.

I noticed yesterday the latest two issues of the Trek partworks also claim to be sold out. I find this unlikely given they shelf warm around here unless I buy them. As Andy says probably sold out at distributor level... but then returns and unsold stock arrive back a few weeks later. Worth checking back on.

Publishers or toy companies producing exclusives which put out press releases shouting about how great it is that their product has SOLD OUT always confuses me. As a sales and publicity it is completely useless. By telling me you have sold out of your thing that I may have heard of from this press release that then that means I cannot buy it so, er, why tell me? Matty Collector used to do that a lot. OUR THING HAS SOLD OUT IN X MINUTES! YOU CAN'T HAVE IT!
Perhaps the rationale is to build customer expectations that they need to get in quick next time or lose out but I don't respond to being told when to buy a product.

When done well, it can build a brand and add value. Take Nintendo's NES classic and SNES classic. Can't find them for love nor money. People go CRAZY over it and it makes Nintendo's products seem more appealing overall (Nintendo themselves don't care if they do or don't sell, they'd rather use their factories to produce the Switch). The reason I say this works, is that Sega have a comparable Megadrive mini system out. No-one cares as you can get them really easily. The flipside of course is Mattycollector who seemed determined to not sell ANYTHING ever. The scamps.

Ah well you see with me the nonsense over Nintendo's NES CLassic 'selling out' so quickly made me think: 'no chance of buying that as the company has decided to make it difficult for potential customers' so I didn't even bother paying attention to the SNES Classic whenever that came out. Products I can't buy due to artificial scarcity don't make me find that companies wares to be more appealing: it has the opposite effect of me.
I only care about buying things really easily because, well, they are easy to buy so I can get them and then the company makes money off me and so on.

For a Special in the style of childhood ones, physical was the only way to go for me. How nice it was nice to buy in a newsagent. I felt 8 again. It's so rare to have proper Specials on UK newsstands and I remember the Scream! specials from back in the day.
