That is excellent news. I hope there's a Scream special left in the newsagent on Saturday! There were half a dozen in my local. If you have problems finding it, let me know. -Ralph

No ticket, just show up! No idea how busy it'll be, but there's always standing room if the seats are taken.

Not in the big Smiths in Manchester today. It has recently moved to a much smaller store though.

Good. A series that should never be out of print.

I had held back reading the Scream!/Misty Halloween Special until, er, Halloween. Hmmm. I hate to say it but I didn't think it was very good. THE THIRTEENTH FLOOR bit worked well and got the comic off to a good start but otherwise it all felt very bitty and like a work-in-progress dummy issue for a proposed series that had somehow escaped on to newsagent shelves. THE DRACULA FILE was just awful and the team-up story with all the old comics characters went nowhere. The stories in general felt like trailers for other series and just weren't satisfying to read. I also found the tone of THE SENTINELS to be rather ill-advised. I can see what it was going for and the intent was clear but the script was at least a couple of drafts away from being fit for purpose.
Sorry, I didn't think this was very good at all. I hope the next attempt is better. There are clearly good intentions behind it but it just did not work for me. Greatly disappointed. A rare misfire from Rebellion.

I didn't think it was that bad, but it was walking a fine line between treasury promo and celebration of two much missed comics. The article about it in the Meg made it sound like it was a tester for future projects. But then a lot of these specials have been; the was that run of them for showcasing new writers and artists a few years ago.

Interesting, but doesn't have the wow factor I'd have hoped for. New Charley books are welcome but we've had that before. 13th Floor volume would be nice, but I'm not sure from the rest what screams, buy me!

How can you say no to BLACK MAX???
'Black Max is World War One evil flying ace Baron Maximilien Von Klorr who has trained two giant bats to attack British aircraft. Believing himself to be descended from the fabled Bat People, he is continually opposed by Lieutenant Tim Wilson of the Royal Flying Corps in a war comic with a horror twist!'

I had been patiently waiting for a sale, especially for Dracula Files (Furman! Senior!) as I had missed the Hibernia reprint. Also wanted to read Marney The Fox for John 'Transformers' Stokes.

Booooo. Ordered 5 books from the sale but only 4 turned up, omitting the one I most desired ('Marney the Fox'). Not impressed. E-mail sent asking for the book I paid for!

I am falling down the rabbit hole of the 'Treasury of British Comics' line. I may have to have them all. It's not like they have a consistent trade dress and yet...
