The SMASH! Special has arrived. Utterly puzzled as to why it is printed at US comic size. Um. -Ralph Got round to reading it. Some fun stuff in there and plenty of variety. Would not say no to another one. -Ralph

Really enjoyed the Action special. I'd go an action focused anthology comic on a monthly basis I think. Nice alternative to the scifi in 2000AD.

Yes I thought Action was pretty solid. I hope it returns. Smash! had some good stuff in it too. The humour Specials have been dire though.

Yes, not interested in the humour ones after last year's. I remembered while checking out at the shop that I have a couple of 50% off vouchers from various subscriber fuck ups in recent years so I'll probably bag a few trades before they expire and put the Smash one in with them if there are any left by then.

I think what made the Action special work was that the stories made sense. On reflection, the Vigilant was a good idea on paper but the execution was a mess.

I wanted to like The Vigilant but it was incoherant.

Aye, you get the feeling they planned for something bigger and vast and due to conditions it didn't quite pan out that way.

Not keen on the HC cover so will get the softcover. Which reminds me: not ordered volume 1 yet!

I also need vol one. I've been under the impression it's been sold out on 2000ADshop.com for a long time but I think that might have been a quirk of the way it's listed as it seems to be back now. I've got a 50% off voucher due to expire at the end of this month so I might just use that to get it.

Found the Misty special in Smiths today but not the Battle one, so I've ordered that from the 2000AD shop instead.

Read the first few stories in the Battle special. You know, I think this is the best Treasury special Rebellion have done. This is essential reading for anyone who likes a good war story. I also like the way they've kept cutaway type pages and information articles in the style of the original comics. Past the editorial page this feels just like war comics of old.

Found the Misty special in Smiths today but not the Battle one, so I've ordered that from the 2000AD shop instead. The Battle one has disappeared from my local Smiths, to be replaced with the Misty & Scream special that was scheduled for September. I'm starting to feel like Benjamin Button.

Battle one was still in mine yesterday but no sign of Misty.

The Battle one was still in mine yesterday, moved to beside the tattoo magazines and Gay Times as opposed to with the rest of the comics.

Unlikely, rights for that will be with Mattel now.
The perils of licensed comics. More chance of SuperNaturals as Hasbro now own that...
Mind you given Hasbro's refusal to reprint any of the UK Action Force material or even the IPC Action Force material I wouldn't hold my breath.
To say nothing of the MASK comic.

I got round to reading the big and chunky Battle of Britain Special. Should have been right up my street but for some reason it left me cold. I'm not sure why.

I enjoyed the John Steel special. Point off for recolouring black and white stories (though one of the better recolours I have seen).
The Return of Sexton Blake one is fabulous with plenty of features about the character along with old and new stories. I had never heard of the character before so it's a good 'done in one' primer. A proper Special. Recommended.
Misty Winter Special 2020 was very good, especially the first story.
The combined Scream!/Misty Special was a bit meh.

Think the increased digital only specials fill that gap, and they probably don't want one to take sales from the other.
