Thanks to M and Andu I now have the first two. They both have the Target: 2006 endpapers! I must now fill in the enclosed survey. An upcoming issue is 'Prime Detective'. A typo of 'Prime Directive'? -Ralph I've not seen that or any titles for DW stuff yet - only Marvel IDW (apart from the Warwithin one) I got my parcel yesterday but shame subs you don't get the boards

No sub copies for me yet. As I was in Manchester for a wedding and I thought it would make a good Christmas Quiz prize I picked up the second issue over the weekend. Probably the least interesting of the test issues in terms of content (all off the shelf IDW stuff that doesn't give much of an indication of how they'll handle archival stuff), but the book itself really is a nice chunky hardback. If they sort out the spine art and the some design niggles (wrong endpieces being the big one here) this could be quite a good collection. Based on how many copies they had a week after it came out I'd suspect it's not going well enough to go nationwide though.

I'm not sure how the end pieces of art are 'wrong' as they can put whatever they like in. It only looks like they have missed it up as they have only put out two volumes so far. Entirely possible they only have a limited stock of art currently prepared for use.
The WHSmiths I've seen locally seemed to display a lot more copies of part 2 in than part 1 so it seems like a glut with 2 after 1. 1 also took up more than twice the shelf space so they prob had just as many stored in a back room.

Yeah, but the art from Stormbringer was in the Target:2006 issue, and the Magnus vs. Galvatron there is in Stormbringer. That's ass-backwards no matter how you look at it.

Yeah, when the inclusion of of Stormbringer art as the end pieces for the T:2006 book was first mentioned up thread I thought they were having one standard piece across the series, but that would seem not to be the case.
Target artwork surrounds the extra features as well.

Meanwhile, at my home address (!) I get the letter confirming my sub which states 'Your card will be debited automatically with this delivery by £ Vous ne devez rien'. Ummmm. -Ralph

I really don't see why 'mixing up' the art is seen as such a problem/mistake. They're really good books and more than fine as they are.

When Hachette release their books for their various partworks, the endpapers are unique to each volume, matching the story content within. Printing the wrong art material for the wrong book is a fuck up. -Ralph

Fair enough, it's a mistake but not 'wrong' or worth getting upset over as people here and elsewhere seem to be doing. If this is the worse that happens in an otherwise impressive product we had no idea was coming and during its test period... *shrugs*

I hope they start doing UK wide for #3 onwards then this weekend. But it'll be nice if you could order copies of the cardboard backing which I would like to collect

It's a trial run Pete, it won't be UK wide till Jan at the earliest, maybe even a bit later to tie in with TF5: The Last Knight.

I wonder if they are going to have a stall at TFN2017 - just think of the number of copies they'd sell to the at least 150 overseas attenders? But they could take post orders because we'd be on #24 by TFNation 2017. I expect IDW stuff to start with v34 - start of RID MTMTE in v51.

First two issues arrived this morning.
Now as long as I get the next issue with the newly coloured UK strips I'll be happy.
An appearance at TFN or at least providing back issues for sale would probably be a good idea.

They'd need 2 vans outside to carry the stock they'll sell to non-ukers. But when we get to nation wide release do you think the subs are going to continue so we are 12 issues ahead of newstand or just put us on hold for 3 months? It's great we get 4 issues free anyway. It'll be nice if they update the website every 2 months with the next 4 issues details. What could be v1? I don't expect it'll be US #1-8, that it'll start with the Uk annual Cybertron stuff.

The general form with these things, having seen it before with the Dredd & DW Archive partworks, is that the trial runs for 4-6 issues, which the subscribers get at the time. They then get further issues when new ones go on nationwide sale a few months down the line.

My sub finally arrived! Turned out they hadn't written the flat number on the address so it's spent a week under a postman's arm with him wandering the block knocking on random doors (I'd entered it properly on the site though).
The T: 2006 book is indeed lovely and looks so good as a chunky hardback. It's a bit unfair on Stormbringer but seeing all that old stuff presented like this is going to get you in the gut far more.
Though if it doesn't get to series/you only want this first one the American content will seem a bit random. And the behind the scenes stuff is shamelessly just UK focused, anyone wanting insight into Arielbots Over America will be sad.

Having flicked through it, I think the interesting thing to note the American issues aren't just a straight port of the most recent IDW recolourd version. Two instances of Marvel copyrighted elements IDW had to take out--the border around that terrible Menasor cover and Spider-Man on That Little Shit's T-Shirt--have been put back. Which is a nice touch as I don't think either would have been noticed if it hadn't been done. That suggests the Prime's injury thing was just a case of missing it rather than not planning to do this properly.
EDIT: Oh, and the folks behind the Star Trek Spacehips collection were pushing the comic collection pretty hard at Destination Star Trek, so presumably that actually passed its trial and will be going nationwide. Which makes Transformers feel more likely.
