Aha! Found it. Has Phil been moving threads around again?
I think he had a body double for a fair bit of TFA, I guess they just used Mayhew for the up close acting bits. It looks like he had some role in Last Jedi too, considering this will likely be a larger role than either, or both combined its probably for the best he sits it out.

He's already been announced. His name is Alden Ehrenreich. I'd embed a picture but it's a faff on the mobile version. Google the name

I don't know if I want a Han Solo prequel I have reservations. But if it's as good as Rogue One then have at it Disney! This is the first major re-cast of a character in Star Wars though. It's a big deal. I'm glad Lando's in it, but his recasting doesn't seem as important somehow. This is Han Solo we're talking about here.

I don't know if I want a Han Solo prequel I think I'm done with prequels to the original trilogy. We've had four now. After Rogue One, I thought: "Yep, that itch has been scratched. Time to move forwards." Also a young Han Solo movie makes literally no sense as he wasn't old when we first saw him! The other problem is that he has to be a dick as his through-line in the original trilogy is him becoming a better man. So what character growth can a prequel give? But still, can't judge it until it's made. The release date of May 2018 is interesting. Just six months after episode VII. Hmmm. -Ralph

Its a Lord and Miller film so Im sure it will be worth watching.
Harrison Ford was 34 in ANH so theres a potential 15-20 year period for this to fall in to if you dont take the new guy only being about 5 years younger than Ford was at the time.

I think nay Han Solo character develpoment has to be him being a young idealist and becomg a cynical bugger by the stories end. It's the only way they can do do it. Will Disney hold their nerve and actually release this in the summer or will it be mid-to-late december releases for all time?

Currently I'm not that interested in this. I feel if I want pre-EP IV Han Solo I'll just re-read Brian Daley's and then A.C. Crispin's trilogies.
Then again I was uninterested in Rogue One to begin with and ended up loving that.

Yes I'm similar. When I first heard of the 'Anthology' films I thought "Oh dear God, Disney are spanking the franchise for all it's worth!" But if they're as good as Rogue One, then bring it on! Within reason....

You will NOT show originality or creative thinking while working for the House of Mouse.

Well thats my main reason for wanting to see this gone.
Then again I said the same thing when edgar wright left Antman and that still turned out pretty great.

You will NOT show originality or creative thinking while working for the House of Mouse. Well we have no idea what went down here as that information is not in the public domain. All that can really be gleamed is that losing directors that far into production is somewhat unfortunate. Rogue One appears to have had problems during production and that turned out ok (in my opinion) so who knows. -Ralph

All that can really be gleamed is that losing directors that far into production is somewhat unfortunate. Well yes, apart from the fact that both sides cited creative differences as the reason.

In the movie business "creative differences" is a polite catch-all term to cover all problems. It's essentially a meaningless phrase in press releases.

Saw Baby Driver last night. Call me crazy, but I swear if they swapped cars for space ships and the girlfriend for Chewie (and ditched the musical elements) this would basically make a great Han Solo backstory.
The star would even make a good Han and bizarrely is dressed in away that replictes Hans episode 4 costume. Off white sleeves, blue torso and dark trousers.
