Hmmmmmmm... I dunno .... What if... What if, right, Optimus is Huffer's future self! After Huffer is given the Creation Matrix The NEW HUFFER PRIME (who decides upon this name to avoid confusion) travels back in time to SAVE US ALL!!! If only we knew a Huffer expert who could judge such matters, EH The Huff .....

That's not a bad fanfic idea... Hot Rod = Rodimus, Huffer = Optimus.
Although I suppose they both exist at the same time.

Optimus Prime WISHES he was Huffer.
One day, I will show all the silly little comics I used to draw about Huffer becoming a Powermaster, with shoulder mounted missile launcher and spikes on his tyres, from when I was young. He also wore Rupert trousers at one point, I recall.

While I'm firmly of the opinion Metroplex is Metroplex, one of the greatest Transformers characters/toys of ALL TIME, I would buy this instantly.

Slammer/Roller needs a black turret to match Plague of the Insecticons.

What do you do when your apartment complex has to lead a war? Talk about a housing crisis.

Optimetro has purple badges, so that makes him a Nemisis, surely. Like all landlords.

So does this mean Trypticon is the first iteration of Dragon Megatron?

We talked about the potential for loads of Metroplex repaints - Ultra Magnus, Powered Convoy, Blaster, Soundwave (by extension Twincast and Soundblaster), Thunderclash, Impactor... Stalker....
Leaning into an idea that had been in the back of my head for a while, there is no reason why the Transformers should use non-sentient technology. It would be like us using technology made out of meat, you could argue their guns/weapons are actually a part of them. Hence why only Cliffjumper has the gas glass gun, that sort of thing. So every base, every craft would be a Transformer of a different size class.

Genuinely, if space permitted, a fleet of these Titan sized Transformers would be cool. If you were looking at a more feudal, warring city states take on Cybertron - then wouldn't the warlord be their fortress/mobile battle platform. Also, you lean into the lore of say an Optimus Prime, he is the command deck, roller and the trailer. So the technology exists so their big form could be the base, and you use the Six Gun/Scamper as their avatar in dealing with others on a face to face level.

The humanoid configuration does not make any sense at that scale, however, in terms of physics. A rolling base like Grandus would be more practical.

There's lots about TF that doesn't make sense! In effect you'd treat them in battle like massive siege engines - a la Mek Quake and Torquemurder in Nemesis the Warlock. Philip Ayres have let Martin experience the wonders of Mills/O'Neill Nemesis The Warlock before?

Aside from the practicalities of a humanoid being operating at that scale, if it doubles as a city, think of everything you’d have to secure in place if you were one of the inhabitants... The buildings that turn into arms must be the cheapest to rent and impossible to get contents insurance for.

That is frighteningly close to ideas I've been recently toying with in my in-head-only, never-to-go-anywhere fanfic. But yes, the idea that Transformers, who are themselves sentient tech, would not employ other sentient tech as transport, weapons, etc is certainly an interesting one, and one that has gotten very little play in the media. Roberts very briefly touched on it in MTMTE with the idea of the "disposables class", but there's certainly something there when you consider that we've seen TFs use vehicles and starships and the like for their utility, but with no seeming autonomy of their own - there's certainly some sort of class imbalance going on there.

I'd always thought the idea of the Transformers interacting with non-sentient tech is their version of Cronenbergian body horror. It be like turning dead bodies into items, like a whole planet of robotic Ed Geins!
There's a little space inbetween the folds of the early issues of Marvel US to maybe play around with the idea, given how how Prowl realises the humans control the machines. Arguably, that idea feeds into the contempt the Decepticons have for humanity. An entire planet of beings who would think nothing of using the bodies of Transformers to their own ends.

I honestly don't see it as all that different to us using horses or oxen, or building houses out of wood.
Or maybe it's closer to us using cardboard over plastic. I guess my point is that we are much more closely related to a tree, than a cybertronian is to the Ark (in the settings when the ark is not a living being).
