Finished Power Pack volumes 2 and 3. Brilliant stuff.
Ground to a halt on Morituri. Everyone's so miserable... Think I'm just gonna skim the remainder to see what happens without reading it properly.

Seeing Martin for lunch tomorrow and taking him the latest Doctor Strange and Defenders epics.
Will make sure he reads Davis Excalibur when that hits next month.

He's read the previous volume, he needs to find out how it finishes. He isn't the only one either!
I'm interested to know what he thinks. Trying to write something on my thoughts on this but keep getting bogged down.

So far read one issue in the Defenders volume and three from the Dr Strange.
Defenders doesn't feel like Defenders without DS in it. With all those X-Men, it feels more like the Champions - a somewhat forced generic superhero group.
But really enjoying the Dr Strange series that begins in his new Epic volume. Hurray for the return of the talking New York frogs!

The Champions is FAR superior to the woeful Defenders.

Champions is very good. But some bits of Defenders, in paticular the Gerber run, beats Champions hands down.

You're right, Ralph. Phil talks nonsense when he says Champions is very good. It's naff. And so is Defenders when it gets all Championsy.

Four issues done from each of the Epics now.
Defenders has improved. They're a lot more effective now that Moondragon's got her act together at last and the Beast has a chance to do his scientist thing. Less dysfunctional. Less Champions-ish. They've successfully taken down a couple of big nasties.
Gargoyle mini-series up next.

Always enjoyed The Defenders across it's multiple incarnations. I do wish it had been allowed to continue and that Jean Grey was kept dead.

Yes, yes she is.
She was brought back a while ago.
Death and the X-Men now have an even stranger relationship after HoXPoX. NO SPOILERS AS RALPH HASN'T READ IT YET!

Marvel wanted to re-unite the original X-Men, so they brought her back and cancelled The New Defenders and we got X-Factor.

Oh right. That doesn't particularly sadden me, as I think Defenders lost what made it distinctive when it lost Dr Strange and got taken over by ex-X-Men.

Just finished the Dr Strange 'Faust Gambit' four-parter and the Gargoyle four-issue mini-series. Enjoyed them both.
I have however realised that I probably shouldn't be reading these two Epic TPBs in parallel, since a consequence of doing so is that I've read the story of Valkyrie & co.'s return to life before I've read the story of their deaths. But never mind.
