I always thought the first Ant Man had retained enough of Edgar Wright influence that you could just about see the film he would have made I now feel even more certain this is the case as Ant Man and the Wasp if it lacks anything it is it's own voice or style.
That loss is more noticeable after GOTGv2, Thor Ragnorak and Black Panther have seen directors really put a strong stamp on their work. Which ironically seems to have been the reason (or one of the reasons) that Edgar Wright eventually parted ways with Marvel.

I thought AM&TW felt like a 3rd generation photocopy of the first film: just doing the same thing again but without the sharpness. A distinctly underwhelming experience. There was some fun to be had in places but a very average watch. I would say it is the kind of fare that is perfectly fine as something to watch on TV or a streaming platform but not worth bothering to see on a big screen. Some strange editing in places where it felt like scenes had been moved around or cut in half with an interposing scene to move action around. Though if I start to notice the editing tricks there is something not quite working with your film.
It did also suffer from all the good bits being in the trailer. Literally ALL of the good bits.
Also we had the heist caper stuff in the first movie. I was annoyed to see more of that again. Give us more of the microverse ffs.
After 3 belters in a row from Marvel it did not cut the mustard overall though it still better than the proceeding Spider-Man: Homecoming which is still the most bland Marvel film of them all.

'Teen Titans Go! To the Movies': very enjoyable, makes the most of a low budget. Positive and fun: the polar opposite of most DC cinematic films. I see that it bombed on US release. Sigh. Loved it.

WHY WOULD YOU NOT WANT TO SEE STATHAM FIGHTING A SHARK? I'd pay money to see him fighting a giant shark with martial arts, but I see no evidence of that from the trailer. Martin

1. Black Panther 2. Avengers: Infinity War 3. Solo: A Star Wars Story 4. Ant-Man and the WaspQuite fun, nothing spectacular. I liked that The Ghost wasn't just offed but given a shot at redemption and Bill Foster wasn't eeeevil or anything. That felt like a nice change of pace.

I liked Keaton's Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming for similar reasons. Makes a nice contrast with the likes of Ultron, Hela and Thanos. Martin

AM&TW was such a weak film I can't even remember who the villain was. That is how much I was engaged by it. Felt like a sequel from an earlier age. Did you like the first film? Would you like to see it again? Then here it is!
Other Marvel sequels have went down the route of each instalment being very different ie the Captain America and Thor films.

Ant-Man 2 is far more entertaining than Thor 2.
The villain in the first Ant-Man was just an evil guy. The 'villain' in the second film was a woman trying to find a way to stay alive, and so more sympathetic. And Morphius was trying to help her but not prepared to hurt others in order to do it. And then there was the guy (Storm Shadow's prison warden in G.I. Joe 2) just out to make money. There were some nice differences between the three 'villains'. They were all human.

I agree that Ant-Man 2 is better than Thor 2. I wasn't good at explaining that what I meant was that other sequels in the MCU at least try to be their own thing. I don't think Thor 2 is very good though at least the 3 Thor films are very different to each other. So are the Captain America movies.
Ant-Man 2 didn't work for me as it felt like the way sequels used to be traditionally done, ie here is the exact same movie again. Cinema has moved on and that type of approach just doesn't cut the mustard anymore.
For an action/adventure film to work it needs a strong villain and plot for the hero to pivot around. The MCU has had some issues with this but after 3 films in a row with very strong distinctive villains and memorable plots having Ant-Man 2 be...whatever it was*...just doesn't work either. The MCU has raised the bar. Perhaps Ant-Man 2's biggest issue is that it is coming out in 2018 and not 2008. This type of film would have been fine ten years ago.
-Ralph
*I could look it up but if I honestly remember hee-haw about the villain and whatever they wanted it must have left me deeply unengaged if I have little recall less than a month later

So, I watched Ant Man & The Wasp. So they can now shrink cars with normal people inside. What happens if that person gets out the car? Or did I miss something?

The Omen (1976): I still can't get over the shock of what happens to David Warner. Somehow it is more shocking on the big screen.
The Equalizer 2: Don't fuck with Denzel.
Unfriended: Dark Web. The first film was a genuine original and gripping. This was not.

Quite enjoyed ALPHA. The story of how Man 20,000 years ago meets a wolf which will eventually lead to domesticated dogs is of course complete guff. However, it is a nice story well told and I was quite engaged by it. The summer movie season has mostly been moribund pish so nice to see a wee gem sneak in at the end.
