I have no interest in Bumblebee. I'm fed up with the TF films and it looks even worse than the first 5! -Ralph That's what I thought too. But it turned out to be decent in its own right and the best live action TF film by a country mile. Well worth giving a shot especially with a cineworld card allowing you to see it effectively for free. Won't cost me anything but I just have no interest in it. -Ralph

Just seen it for a second time, and the memory of the Bays is fading fast. Shame they didn't make this film ten years ago. Transformers would have such a different connotation for cinema-goers. And Ralph would have gone to see it if this had been the first one made, and so would have witnessed the stoicism and heroism of John Cena's 'Agent Burns'. Martin

1. The Bromley Boys 2. Bumblebee
Football may not play much part in my life these days, but for a good fifteen years my local team dominated everything I did. This is a great film for anyone who has an affinity with the game, non-league particularly. In fact it's just a great independent British comedy.

Too much of the CG looks CG. But given the setting and the amount of CG needed to pull it off, its not bad. The villains are a bit disappointing, they have the potential for decent motivation along the lines of Black Panthers Killmonger, but instead they are very generic. Takes advantage of the grim dark world of the DCEU by contrasting it with a far more interesting underwater world. Overall not bad, but still only a subpar Thor Ragnorak at best.

I'd like to think I have a decent knowledge of the world of Harry Potter, Im by no means a fanatic, but have seen all the films, read and listened to all 7 HP books multiple times which probably puts me ahead of most casual viewers. So if I'm coming out trying to make sense of anything Ive just seen, then I imagine so are the majority of the people seeing it. Thats probably not a good thing. Or maybe those with less knowledge of the series don't know enough to be lost and those with hardcore knowledge know enough to make sense of most of it and I just fall badly between the two groups. Either way I personally spent the entire film having no idea where its was going or why and pretty much every time I stumbled on something I understood, it seemed to not fit with what I remember of HP continuity. The first scenes and a lot of the action scenes generally are bloody awfully shot. They make Bays Transformers fight scenes appear crystal clear in comparison. And yet I don't dislike it. I just dont know what I watched.

I'm off to see this tomorrow. Not because I want to, but because Mrs P sat though Bumblebee. Fair's fair.

I did too. Loved it. Both Ant Man films are great fun and proof that the diversity of styles in the MCU is one of the things that keeps it fresh.

I liked Ant-Man the first time. I was confused why the second film was just the same film again.

Are you sure you didn't watch the first one twice?

I felt like it was watching it again when I saw the 2nd one! It was a very old fashioned sequel ie 'Here is the first one...again!'.

I thought it was quite different, it kept the shrinking growing gimmick but you could argue all superhero movies do that,
but it didn't focus on him getting an origin or anything, had good humour !

Upon reflection, FIRST MAN was the film of the year for me. Not what I had expected going in but I have found it has really stayed with me since. It's not really about the moon landing (which is almost incidental) and is also not a typical biopic but has a focus on other very arresting themes instead. Also a very good example of a film designed to be seen (and heard) in a theatre.

I think I knew, but had completely forgotten Artemis Fowl was getting a film let alone that it was out this year. Also 3 live action Disney Classics remakes in 1 year. Yikes! I still don't see the point in them beyond making all the money, but that is a very good reason from Disneys perspective. And Frozen 2 and Toy story 4. Holy crap.
Even without Marvel and Star Wars that would be a hell of a line up for Disney.
