Passing on Oceaan's 8 the same way I passed on 11, 12 & 13: I just don't like heist movies.
The last week has been the Edinburger Film Festival which I go along to every year. Very slim pickings this year but I still enjoy it anyway. The only real standout was IN DARKNESS so of course that one is going straight to Itunes rather then general release in theatres.
If TERMINAL gets a general release DO NOT WATCH IT. YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WARNED.

Skyscraper? Sky-crapper more like! I think I am done with films starring The Rock other than Fast and Furious ones. He is a very engaging screen presence but he does have a knack for picking solid turds!
2018 has been a mostly very very poor year indeed at the cinema so far. Even the tosh summer films have been crap. At least the Marvel films have been fun.

Skyscraper? Sky-crapper more like! This bodes well for my trip to see it on Monday afternoon. The odds are already in favour of me liking it as I'll be sitting in a recliner seat. G.I. Joe: Retaliation (extended cut) and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle are Dwayne Johnson's finest films, as you well know. Martin

I watched Sky-crapper in 2D IMAX so in the best quality. Your recliner seat shall not save you from cinematic disappointment.
GI Joe 2 was ponderous and Jumanji 2 was as bad as Jumanji 1. I only watched it for Amy Pond from Doctor Who.

I only watched it for Amy Pond from Doctor Who. Ruby Roundhouse, she can kick some ass! Smoulder Brimstone, always on attack! Damn, that video never gets old. Martin

I'd put Skyscrapper in the solid entertainment but no need to rewatch catagory. Take out The Rock and it would only have been solid.
The one thing I did find interesting is that despite looking like a big budget modern take on the old 70s disaster movies plus Die Hard etc it very much avoided many of the usual cliches of such movies.

I'd put Skyscrapper in the solid entertainment but no need to rewatch catagory. Agreed. Certainly better than any film in which Vin Diesel appears alongside the Rock. Biggest problem with the film was the lack of suspense because you know the family always survives, but that's a flaw in the genre as a whole. 1. Solo - A Star Wars Story 2. Molly's Game 3. Can't comment on Soldado as I haven't seen it. But Sicario was a good little thriller. On Netflix at present I believe for those who haven't seen it and have a Netflix sub.

Mind you, enjoyment of M:I6 does depend in part on remembering everything that happened in M:I5, which I do because I loved that one too and have watched it many times.

The Greatest Showman Pitch Perfect 3 Paddington 2 Darkest Hour Molly's Game Jumanjii 2 Maze Runner Black Panther Red Sparrow (Imax) Black Panther (Imax) Game Night - Ready Player One Pacific Rim - Rampage - Infinity War Deadpool 2 Solo Incredibles 2 Super Troopers 2 Ant Man and The Wasp - Possibly the lowest stakes movie in the entire MCU to date. Coming on the back of Infinity War that probably a smart move. Relies on the cast being great rather than a particularly strong story or structure. {Spoiler}Theres no big bad just a race against time and competing factions. Oh and a bunch of random criminals thrown in. I kind of love that.
The race against time is to save just two lives which is almost ridiculous when as a viewer you know this is taking place at about the same time as Avengers.
I mean before this whats the lowest stakes of an MCU film? Even the first Ant Man had super soldier tech at stake which would have led to many deaths down the line. Ditto Ironman 1 and 2. Micheal Pena again steals the show, though FBI agent Woo does his best to match him.
