Ooh, I think left to right, back to front is the order I picked them up in as well. Clever bertie. If anyone has that belt for Groundbreaker, I'd greatly appreciate one.

If they'd have continued the Classic Pretenders whom do you think would have featured in wave two, or even a wave three? Naturally, I'd be routing for one character in particular. But considering who was given a second comming in the 'Classics' wave of that era, I'd guess at the following. Wave two, 2 Autobots and 2 Decepticons: Prowl Wheeljack Soundwave (think they'd have managed to squeeze a tiny Laserbeak in there?) Shockwave Wave three, obvious repaints included, again 2 of each: Blaster Mirage Skywarp Thundercracker

Pretty good stuff: The action masters range give you a good idea about what characters Hasbro wee thinking about back then. Hasbro had an eye on a repaint even then so I wouldn't have been surprised to see one of the jets in each wave plus an early appearance for Pretenders Cliffjumper each using Starscream & BB.

Yep, Classic Heroes and Action Master is what I based my 'waves' on. It would have been cool, wouldn't it?

Hasbro hadn't done much with repaints for a few years but a wave 2 and certainly wave three would have brought us well into the AM and MM years when repaints were back in vogue. I almost hate to suggest it but it would have been concievable that Jazz would have been repainted and possibly modded to become Prowl. Alternatively it was only a few years later Europe turned to Japan to fill its lines so maybe a stepper repaint might have happened. Working on the assumption that AM and MM still existed so am mostly avoiding those characters. Wave 2 Cliffjumper Ironhide Cowboy type shell Kickback with insect catching shell complete with net on a stick Stepper Wave 3 Skywarp (though I dream of a Pretender Thundercracker in AM colours) Ratchet with repainted Cowboy shell? Frenzy with Teenage "jock" type build listening to a walkman or Boombox mode Soundwave. Prowl or maybe Streetwise Police man shell repaint (Jazz was already pretty close to that anyway) Wave 4 Rumble Red repaint of shell Thrust with new wings Redalert Sunstreaker Wave 5 Eject or rewind with blaster boombox Sideswipe ( a very popular character around this time 5 versions in 5 years so quite possible) One of the sports car throttlebots, but not Chase because of Sideswipe, so Searchlight or Freeway. Probably Freeway as there havent been any blue figures since Starscream. Andy

Also if the line had gone into other Pretender concepts a Prime cab inner robot combineing with a trailer Pretender shell in the same stlye as Thunderwing would have been fantastic. THe shell would have looked like HiQ. Or the Ultra verion, the trailer is a non transforming shell and the inner shell looks like HiQ and transforms something like the AM cabs jet mode.

I suppose you could cram an Action Master into a Pretender shell...
Great idea for a discussion, Shockers.
Storywise, I'd like to see Pretender versions of Hound and Breakdown, as they always desired to be humans...

I had that thought about all those G1 legends. I think all of then fit most shells. So Beachcomber, Brawn, G2 Megatron, Hound, Hot Rod, Cliffjumper, Warpath (probably), Wheelie, Smokescreen and possibly Cosmos could all be done. Repainting whatever the most suitable pretender shell is for each has to be one of the easiest repaints possible.
Oh and Jazz and Bumblebee again.
Some what one sides at the moment but the new legends announced at Botcon would even it up a little.

The thought of further Classic Pretenders has haunted me for decades. I say haunted 'cos I had opportunity to purchoosle all the originals, but didn't (think I got some Action Force instead!). Not a regret, as such, but they've always been floating around in my mind's depths.
Great ideas, Bogatan! I hadn't even thought about what the shells would be like! I'd always purely focussed on the characters that would have got Pretender treatment. Cowboy for Ironhide is pure evil genious! And a Prime combing shell, oh that makes me drool!
And good point about Hound having a shell 'cos he wants to be human, Tomo. That would have been a nice story thread. Even having him leave the Autobots for a time to explore life as a 'human'. Although it would have had do have been on a planet with super large humanoinds, like the one Cloudburst and Landmine visited that time.

Not necessary... the Transformers already have size changing powers, so there'd be no reason to assume the Pretenders couldn't shrink down to human sizes.

Would you buy?

I've been accumulating pretender shells for this purpose. So yes if Hasbro were to do it I'd be happy. If the shells were like the those Revelovethings but with a hollow chest compartment I'd be even happier.
Oh and I found Max's guns, I'll PM you.

Yeah defo. I really like the designs of the Pretender shells, the toys are a bit rubbish though. An updated Octopunch would be my most wanted.

Hmm. I'd have to see pics of them. I like Bogatan's Revoltech idea. I'm liking the TF and Pretender in one look, like voyager Bludgeon. I'd like to see more of those. I'd love a Stormbringer Thunderwing for example!

Robotised Pretenders Do you know what I mean? Like the recent voyager Bludgeon figure from whatever movie line it was. A robotised/transformationised version of Bludgeon's pretender shell. Generations Skullgrin (one of which is on its way to me as I type He He!) and Thunderwing are other, and I think the only other, examples. Now, I love G1 Pretenders, even back in the day when I was mourning the loss of '84/'85 style figures. Great idea. But I'm liking the robotising of Pretenders just as much! I think it was the excellent designs in Stormbringer that first eeked my interest. Now with three 'Robotised Pretender' toys out there, I want more. You folks like 'em? Or snot? There's only three isn't there? Wonder if they'll be more! Bludgeon needs his army!

They'd have to make Bludgeon and Octopunch.....They could make them transform into their respective g1 Rhino and Scorpion modes too....I think they should remake the Pretenders AS Pretenders, the tricky part would be making the outer shell as posable as the robot.
