Alright.
I.......
LIKED IT!
THAT is how to make a Transformers film, Michael Bay you nobhead.
None of that awful grotesque loutiness. No racism, sexism, ultra-brutality.
I see where Doc' is coming from, not much happens really. But generally speaking it's good honest fun.
.....ruined by ONE SCENE.
The bizzar and brutal execution of Cliffjumper.
It was like Michael Bay took control of the Director's chair again for one scene. Completely unnecessary, random, meaningless and gratuitous. It did nothing for the plot. They where near Saturn when they detected the signal, they could have been anywhere and detected the signal. It established them as bad guys, landing on earth looking menacing could have done that. Pointless and brutal. Didn't need it. Spoilt the film. My youngest could see this film if it weren't for that one scene. It didn't need the few humans who were gloopped either, that crossed an unfortunate line as well. This isn't what kids like these days.
But it was an improvement. A massive step in the right direction.
I had no idea who the two main bad-guy Decepticons were, it was still very human-centric but they were watchable humans so it wasn't too bad, and I really don't like how Bumblebee CANNOT TALK (maybe he looses his memory or something...?).
But anyway. It was alright.
"Ravage: Eject!" Awwww mamma, beautiful. More of that.

The decepticons are Shatter and Dropkick. They're new(ish*). *Dropkick may or may not have been inspired by a toy-only Movie 1 character of the same name and colorscheme. At the very least, it's a name reuse. He's one of the better toys across the movie lines

And Bumblebee can't talk because Blitzwing speared him through the throat, and he has no ability to repair himself.

I really don't like how Bumblebee CANNOT TALK (maybe he looses his memory or something...?). "Tell me where your friends are hiding!" "I'll never talk." "Is that right? Then let's make it official." I think him losing his voice and memory was important, because it made him both more alien and more dependent on Charlie, and able to spend time getting to know her and wasting time rather than get on with the mission Prime gave him. It also made getting acquainted with Charlie more of a visual thing rather than just talking to each other like the Decepticons talking to the military - contrasting the two situations. As for Cliffjumper, I recall he was introduced only to die straight away in the first episode of the Transformers Prime cartoon series, so maybe the Bumblebee writers picked up on that and thought that in TFs he was always supposed to be a guy you introduced to kill off straight away? I do agree it was a shame, but it served a purpose of making the bad guys a genuine threat to Bumblebee. Martin

Dropkick and Shatter, huh?
Yes I get why he couldn't talk, and why he physically couldn't talk, and the fact he couldn't talk achieves everything you describe, Martin. I just wish there was another way. I'm fed up with Bumblebee not talking! It's become a thing. Loosing his memory only maybe would have achieved it... maybe.
I didn't need the random slicing in half of Cliffjumper to communicate that they're bad guys. It's random and overtly brutal and lifts right out of the entire film. That and humans getting killed in what felt a throwaway comedic way. Gloop. Not necessary! Fundamentally alters a film.
It has promise though! If this is the new direction. Gosh that opening scene made me let out a little sex wee.

How does Shockers rate the films now, from best to worst? -Ralph Holy Toledo, Doc', that a bit of a hard ask considering I dislike most of them and haven't seen some of them. Bumblebee is by far the best live action one, despite its faults. The first one Bay did is marginally less horrifically shit than the others. I've no idea which of those I haven't seen. So.... 1. Bumblebee ---A COUNTRY MILE---- 2. Transformers: The Movie 198whatever, by default ONLY 3. The first Bay one 4. All the others Suck my balls, it's all a bit shit isn't it?! This is our movieness as Transformers fans?! THIS IS IT?!?!

None of them are really any good though other then TF:TM and the Beast Wars II movie.

Hmmm, well, we'll have to agree to disagree on TF:TM, Doctor.
And on the fact Bumblebee is the worst live-action movie! I just can't stand the Bay-vibe if the others. It's unpleasant. Bumblebee didn't have the Bay-vibe, instant front-runner.
But as I say, there's not much competition.
I didn't know there was a Beast Wars movie.
