We have yet another guest joining this summer's TFNation 2019, and one that is a recent Scottish addition to the Transformers media universe: current IDW writer for Transformers Brian Ruckley! Ruckley comes from a background in environmental studies and activism coupled with science fiction and fantasy, starting his writing career in British magazines such as Interzone, Black Static, and Lightspeed, with short stories. He also later published a number of novels, starting The Godless World series with Winterbirth in 2006, and producing some standalone work with The Edinburgh Dead (2011) and The Free (2014). He also runs bizarre nature-based podcast The Wild Episode. But what about the robots, you might ask? Well, Ruckley is the current main architect in the rebooted IDW Publishing Transformers narrative universe - starting in March 2019 - dealing with the reality of Cybertron before the war, looking into what made Megatron and Optimus Prime who they will eventually become, and helping build a world that is, once again, just that little bit larger. The comics are published twice a month, and you can find them in any comic book shop or online! Brian Ruckley will be attending the convention all weekend, chatting about his current Transformers work, weird animals, speculative fiction, and writing in general! We have a special type of guest to bring you, at this year's edition of TFNation: officially licensed Transformers toy and model kit makers, Flame Toys! Flame Toys are a relatively new kid on the block, but have already made a name of themselves for their highly detailed and well designed action figures and high end collectibles - despite their non-transforming nature - using a style closer to the fan-acclaimed IDW Transformers comics designs for many characters.In addition, they were the first to officially pair up Transformers action figures with the Gunpla style model kits, bringing a line-up of smaller but extremely popular figures among collectors and fans. Their product display content has not as yet been confirmed, so keep an eye on updates closer to the dates to find out what will be making an appearance at TFNation. We are, however, expecting a good selection of their products so far, including the Furai Model line and the Kuro Kara Kuri bigger bots. Just been processing the changes to the layout for this year using an old map of the hotel. Sounds like a lot of well thought out reorganizing going on there. Putting the forge in with the traders is good, as is using the Kings suite for the panels. Like it. Starting to get the vibes now. I have the Friday and Monday off in case I can make it though priority for pennies end of July/start of August is for new spectacles and finding somewhere to live so...we shall see.

A combination of new glasses costing less than I had budgeted for, the trains to Brum being very cheap, a BT bill refund...but most importantly of all I am experiencing extreme stress so I badly need a break from reality. I will be coming along as someone is kindly helping with somewhere to crash.
I shall see some of you there. Will get in 8-ish on the Thursday, leaving on Monday afternoon. My budget for spending will be very small so I might buy a Micromaster.
