If I see this right, Mrs Shocks has ordered "the pond" to be dug.
Place bets now as if the plan changes when the hole's in the ground and who she gets to help fill it in....

I'd put money on the 'eldest' because she's fed up with her loony Dad bothering her with questions about what colour his toys should be.

Finally got a replacement arch for the roses to climb after the wood one gave up a few years back.
Need to raise the stepping stone path through to the pond, the slabs are a good few inches beneath the height of the turf!
Cucumbers doing ok, carrot tops thriving (who knows beneath though), chilli plants will need repotting soon. Pumpkins, one vine doing well, one ok, front garden survivor still tiny though.

Actually, it's the other way round. Mrs Shocks likes the idea of a pond in theory, but would rather I didn't expensive time, energy, and money on the project, such that it is. (She, and the childrens, are also growing tiresome of my complaints of having hurt my myself in several multiple different ways after each session of digging.) But, I WILL HAVE AMPHIBIANS POPULATE MY GARDEN, or I will die in the attempt.

We normally get some frogs, but this year were pleasantly surprised by the appearance of a newt.
It scarpered quick smart back into the water saying something about they mostly coming at night, mostly.

THE POND IS DUGGETHED.
It's about... I dunno, 3 meters by 1 and a half, 1 and a half meters deep in the central deep bit, sides then moving up slowly. The deep bit is only small 'cos it's dug between two trees. Had to keep it narrow like. I've called the deep bit the Mariana Trench.
I have several bags of spare crappy, clayey, crappy soil. Maybe I'll make a hill somewhere.
Now. Do I spend my outstanding Amazon vouchers on pond liner or Transformers... Pond liner or Transformers... Daddy or chips...

That's a serious amount of digging. Did you do that just with a spade?

That's a serious amount of digging. Did you do that just with a spade? Yup. Over several days. It's not as big as it sounds as only the centre is deep, the rest slope upwards, so as to not disturb any tree routes. The youngest all but disappears in it though! Soundly fiend.

Digging holes is no fun. I remember that from from doing the shed foundation last year.

The Hyde Ranger had taken over the front garden so Mrs Ralph attacked it last night. Put some of the heads in a nice vase.

MY POND IS FAT. FAT AND FULL.
Took six water butts to fill. Wanted to use only rainwater. Had to be patient. Been playing with large rocks today. Sorting out the boarder. Hurt myself in many multiple ways, contorting and straining, but it's with it. Taking shape nicely.
I will have amphibians.
