1. Uncharted 2. Scream 3. Operation Mincemeat 4. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness5. The Lost City 6. Morbius 7. Moonfall 8. Death on the Nile 9. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent 10. Ambulance 11. Nightmare Alley 12. The Batman 13. The 355 Doctor Strange 2 is... an experience. It's not a great film, but you can enjoy it if you embrace the madness. But you do need to have watched WandaVision for it to make any sense at all in character terms. This is the first MCU film to rely on audiences having seen a specific TV show as well as the other movies. This dooms it to poor reviews by any critic who has not watched WandaVision before seeing this. It was not what I had expected. I thought it would be linked with the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, but it isn't. It is a continuation of the story arcs from the first Doctor Strange film and WandaVision.
Unlike in Spidey, when the cameos from other film continuities were entirely warranted by the needs of the story, the cameos in this one are completely gratuitous. Martin

1. Spider-Man no Way Home 2. Moonfall. 3. Death on the Nile 4. The Batman 5. Morbius 6. The Lost City 7. Dr Strange ITMOM - Its a Sam Raimi film. It is a good Sam Raimi film. Its a good film. Spoilers Spoiler Live action Fantasia transitioning to the Evil Dead in the space of five minutes is crazy good.
Anson *Bleeping* Mount is back as Black Bolt. I dont know if anyone was aking for that, but holy cow did it make me happy. Possibly more so than Xavier entering to the X-Men theme tune.
Nice to see Bruce Campbell again. With the best end credit scene since Captain America in Homecoming. Though I was really hoping he was going to fall to the ground and see a chainsaw lying next to him.
Saw it in Imax 3D as it was the first showing I could get to. And I figured if one film this year might actually make good use of 3D its this one and yeah it was mostly subtle, but it worked pretty well. I love that the sequel they seemed to be setting up in 2016 is so unimportant that its swept aside by one line that suggests it had reached the level of an over excited puppy tearing up some furniture.

Went to the cinema today. Mrs P demanded. First time I've been there since February 2020, but I go to the cinema so infrequently that it felt no different to any other cinema trip. That last trip was to entertain a six year old, so somewhat disappointingly in the last two and a half years the only films I've seen in a cinema are Sonic the Hedgehog and Downton Abbey 2.
Hey ho.

I went to see 'Doctor Strange In Roughly 30 seconds Of The Multiverse Of Madness Friday' too.
I wasn't that disappointed with it all though - well, not as disappointed with the Pizza Hut I went for beforehand.

Not been to a Pizza Hut in years - so thought I'd treat my daughters (and myself) to one as it was the youngest's birthday (well, 19!). Paid £17 for a pizza (plus extra for drinks etc) that was equivalent to an Asda smart price offering. Not exagerating. Tasted of nothing and had the texture of dry cardboard.
Not how I remember Pizza Hut at all.

Booked time off work to see Top Gun: Maverick during school hours the week it comes out. The following week is half-term, and I'd rather avoid the cinema then.

Last in a cinema circa February 2020, when I saw 'Parasite' and having no idea I would not be back for a very long time.
Cineworld account reactivated.
Booked for Doctor Strange 2 in IMAX 2D for tomorrow afternoon. Can't wait.
Also booked for Top Gun 2 in IMAX for morning of the 25th.

I might pop along to see Top Gun too. The Downton experience has reminded me that cinema snack food is always fun.
I did find it amusing that Kapow had to point out that although Maverick is getting a reissue from Hasbro to tie in to the movie release, they still have the original stock in their sale going half price.

I might open mine before seeing the film.
Or open it while watching the original in 4k this weekend.

I did some buses last summer and struggled.
Managing a LOT better now, thanks to having definitely had & survived Covid.
Mask usage in London appears minimal though :-(

1: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: One day, Sam Raimi will make a good film. This was not that film. Zero chemistry between Cumberland Sausage and the lass playing America. Danny Elfman sadly again putting in a mediocre score (he did Batman, for feck sakes!).
Cumberland was wooden in general. I enjoyed his previous turns as Strange, but here he had the look of a man with his eye on the mortgage.
Not a lot of multiverse and very little madness.
Bloody enjoyed being back in the cinema though, and on an Imax screen too. The sound! I would have been delighted watching paint dry. Which was what the film was, so a winner all round.
Drink and nachos was £9.95!!!! This time, however, I did not mind.

You must however admit that Wong was his usual awesome. (Most improved character over the comic original: from manservant to Sorcerer Supreme, who beats up Abomination in a fight club in his spare time.) Nothing can kill Wong. Martin

Oh, Wong was great. He needs his own film or show.
I still had a great time, even if the film was a bit meh. Big screen spectacle! Chair rumbling sound!

1. Spider-Man no Way Home 2. Moonfall. 3. Death on the Nile 4. The Batman 5. Morbius 6. The Lost City 7. Dr Strange ITMOM
8. Everything Everywhere All at Once - Kinda gave up on the rankings a few years ago, but if this isnt my film of the year, well it will have been a very good year. Weird and funny and just stunning.
The ripples of laughter as people caught on to things at different times or just reacted to different things was facinating.

Watched Chip'n Dale film on Disney Plus this evening. Very Roger Rabbit - had a mystery type plot that kept me interested - and the cameos (not only confined to Disney cartoon characters) were insane!

So much for my assumption the MCU would leave the Greek Gods alone because DC had already bagged them.

I saw 'Men' a few days ago. Definitely not Garland's best, but it's honestly going to stick with me for a while. Besides, I think 'Not as good as Annihilation' is still pretty damn good.

Top Gun: Maverick. An incredible IMAX experience. It was so immersive that when I got out my seat at the end I walked straight into a wall. I had been ducking and diving so much in my seat. I really felt I was in the planes!!!
