Thundertron is due to be revealed this week, presumably the Prime Universe Lion. Options: * Repaint of Leo Prime, no remoulding save maybe the robot head.
* Remould of Leo Prime to put the Lion head on the Robot chest
* Remould of Voyager Tigatron to give him a lion head
* New Mould, potentially with an eye on Cybertron Leobreaker What do we think? I would have thought it would be a new mould, as original Thundertron is more of a mechanical beast than Lioconvoy or Tigatron. But honestly, who knows? Karl The catch is that Thundertron is a nobody, even in his original line. While a lot of people thought he was a cool toy (he was), he never got used anywhere, and I know of no one who's chomping at the bits for a new Thundertron, over a much more beloved character like Brakedown or Airachnid. So the only thing that makes sense is that he's a repaint/retool of an existing mold, or he's a pretool for someone more popular. And honestly? Leobreaker makes the most sense. They have similar stylings, and is near identical in robot mode parts layout.

Does seem like this latest design team has a thing for bikes and lions, doesn't it?

Okay, so Transformers Generations Legacy United Animated Universe Bumblebee is small, but he's the same height as the previously-released Generations WFC-era Bumblebee, so a "deluxe" being that small isn't without precedent. It's just that the Deluxes are now even more expensive than they were three or four years ago, and they were too expensive then...
As to that Prime, I've said elsewhere but will repeat here now I've got my t'Interwebs back at home, that I think it's a decent enough looking figure, but it just looks cheap. The thighs are hollow and the wheels are the cheap, unpainted plastic pop-in style that we've had to get used to over the last few years. So there's nothing new there, but compare them with the build quality of the original figures, and... yeah. So maybe good for those who don't have the originals, or need a stand-in, but not for me.

These were never going to be easy toys to redo. Two big characters from a line with a VERY different to G1 Style.
I'm not an Animated fan, the anti-Spence if you will, but I thought they pulled last year's Animated Prowl off quite well.
The Bumblebee feels like it's been G1ifiedd everywhere apart from the head which to me feels like the Animated head stuck on a normal TF design body... and yet I've heard some animated fans saying they don't like the head. Apart from the crest I can't see any difference to the Deluxe Animated BB head.
The Optimus looks like it's rolled straight out of Animated to me.
Neither is saying "buy me" to me a non animated fan
However I'm not taking either as an indicator of what's ahead save for the one other listings leaked Animated toy. The other (partially) photo leaked toy does very much suggest business as usual.

It isn't the height that puts me off so much, it's the proportions. If you look at the image Phil posted of Animated Bee next to the Netflix Bee, the Netflix one looks like he's in scale with bigger deluxes. He's smaller, yes, but he's boxy and has the big feet and broad shoulders - he's a short Deluxe. Put him next to Ratchet and he looks right. This animated Bee looks like he's a deluxe that's been downscaled. Put him next to a bigger deluxe and I'll bet he'll look like he's from a different scale line, like putting a core Bumblebee with a Generations deluxe.

It's the head that is putting me off. The rest of it is fine. I need Blueshift to make a new head for it.

See, for me it's the legs. Animated 'Bee has big feet and it all flows in a curve from his waist, and the new one is just boxes, with teensy feet poking out from underneath. Not right at all.

Yeah. AniProwl did an amazing job of putting the animated design into G1 aesthetics. The proportions are toned down, but they absolutely read as TFA Prowl. And honestly, it's Prowl's head that sells it.
AniBee is just painfully obviously intended to be someone else, such as Shadow Striker is blatantly intended to be Sideburn.
But then, Prime Bulkhead was obviously intended as a pretool of someone else, but that "someone else" to date has yet to manifest, even as a rumor. So make of that as you will.
The head needs to be more G1ed, while the waist, legs, and feet need to be more tfa.
