What is with all this dislike for Spiders You guys It's weak. It has an entirely superfluous chase episode, the threat of the spiders is a bit weak. A poor regeneration tale, and I agree with Uncle Tewwance's criticisms of the ending on the DVD making of in respect to the Doctor greed for knowledge being a bad thing. Andy

The Time Warrior - 10. There is a rule of the universe and that is that the glorious Sontaran Empire makes everything good! Invasion of the Dinosaurs - 7. Good fun, though not enough Dinosaur action. Death to the Daleks - 10,00000! I will not hear a bad word against it! Flawless! Brilliant! Every minute is sheer joy!!!! The Monster of Peladon - 6. Not enough Aggador and it does miss having camp King Peladon, but has its moments. Planet of the Spiders - 5. Saved from a lower mark only by the amazing last 5 mins in part 6 and the great bit where Pertwee runs over a sleeping hobo in his hovercraft! The Doctor respects all life, except for homeless life it seems.

P to the Ert to the Wee time! Obviously something has gone horribly horribly wrong here. 1 Inferno 9.8 2 The Three Doctors 9.4 3 The Ambassadors of Death 9.2 4 The Mind of Evil 8.6 4= The Dæmons 8.6 4= The Sea Devils 8.6 7 The Green Death 8.2 8 Terror of the Autons 8 8= The Curse of Peladon 8 8= Invasion of the Dinosaurs 8 11 Planet of the Daleks 7.8 12 Doctor Who and the Silurians 7.6 12= Day of the Daleks 7.6 14 Carnival of Monsters 7.2 14= Frontier in Space 7.2 16 Spearhead from Space 7 16= The Time Monster 7 16= The Time Warrior 7 19 Colony in Space 6.4 20 Planet of the Spiders 5.4 21 The Claws of Axos 5.2 21= The Mutants 5.2 21= Death to the Daleks 5.2 24 The Monster of Peladon 4.8 Inferno as top, I can understand that, great story! It was cheated of a perfect 10 by the evil Turnbull, who is obviously his alternate universe counterpart with worse taste Doctor Who. Glad to see Three Docs up there too, I thought I was one of the only people in fandom who loved it. But What's Planet of the Spiders doing down there?! Why's Claws of Axos so maligned? It's great! What's wrong with you people! Monster of Peladon is at the bottom though, so all is right with the world. Who is PERT for Pertwee? 1. Ralph 8.4 2. Matt 7.5 3. Phil 7.0 3= Karl 7.0 4. Andy 6.9 Oh look it's Ralph again. Ralph loves Pertwee yet even he hated Spiders The average score for a Pertwee story is 7.38, which is the highest average yet! Lets have a few graphs to finish it off! Firstly, the average of all the scores! And lastly, a super confusing graph comparing everyone's scores. You can see Ralph mashing the '10' button there.

Because it was shown at the start of 75 and terror of the Zygons was lopped off it to start the new season which was moved forward to autumn 75. Still doesn't add up to the trad 26 though!

Robot - 7 The Ark in Space - 8 The Sontaran Experiment - 5 Genesis of the Daleks - 10 Revenge of the Cybermen - 7
Terror of the Zygons - 9 Planet of Evil - 4 Pyramids of Mars - 7 - looses points for the last episode The Android Invasion - 8 - again looses for the last episode The Brain of Morbius - 8 The Seeds of Doom - 4 - just not a Doctor Who story with the Doctor out of character most of the time. Desparately needs another script editing pass that it didn't get at the time

Robot - 10. Professor Kettlewell! The toy tank! The amazing Tom v Robot fight! "Look out, Brigadier! It's growing!" The Ark in Space - 10. Flawless, and proper space adventure which is when DW is always at its best. The Sontaran Experiment - 10. I fucking love the Sontarans. Genesis of the Daleks - 9. Drops a point only because the abridged record version actually tells the story better. Revenge of the Cybermen - 10. I love everything about it. I will not hear a word against it. Perfect.
Terror of the Zygons - 9. Only drops a point for flagging a bit in part 4. Planet of Evil - 9. Brilliant madness at the edge of the universe! Pyramids of Mars - 5. Some fun moments, but the Mummies are embarrassing to watch, it's far too derivative even for this era of Who and the last episode is utter rubbish. The Android Invasion - 7. First two eps are tops, part 3 is a bit wobbly and falls apart in part 4. Still good though. The Brain of Morbius - 1. Utter rot. The Seeds of Doom - 9. "I could play all day in my green cathedral!"

The Masque of Mandragora - 6. It's ok, but it's just sort of there. The Hand of Fear - 9. ELDRAD MUST LIVE! The Deadly Assassin - 10. Fucking brilliant. The Face of Evil - 6. Has it's moments though not enough story for 4 parts. The Robots of Death - 2. Almost unwatchable. The Talons of Weng-Chiang - 2. I love the 'Jago & Litefoot' audio series with a burning fiery fiery passion but the TV story which spawned them is a colossal overlong borefest!
Horror of Fang Rock - 10. The scene where Tom taunts the Rutan Spy on the stairs just sums up the essence of DW in a nutshell. The Invisible Enemy - 5. The mad shrimp is great, otherwise pretty forgettable. Image of the Fendahl - 5. Barely memorable. The Sun Makers - 2. Zzzzzzzz, and Tom is terrible in it. Underworld - 5. First episode is fine then it turns into Planet of the CSO Caves for three episodes. Gains points for "The Quest is the Quest!" The Invasion of Time - 10. It's got Sontarans in it.

Glad it's not just me who is lukewarm on Robots of Death. I thought it was decent, but struggle to see the classic that everyone else does.
Talons really is great though.

The Masque of Mandragora - - 5 The Hand of Fear - 9 - ELDRAD MUST LIVE!!!! The Deadly Assassin - 10 - probably the best story ever set on Gallifrey. Love it to bits. The Face of Evil - 7 The Robots of Death - 7 The Talons of Weng-Chiang - 5 - drags and drags
Horror of Fang Rock - 9 - top notch. The Invisible Enemy - 2 - balls. Image of the Fendahl - 6 The Sun Makers - 4 Underworld - 2 - fuck you for ruining a perfectly good Target Book. The Invasion of Time - 8 - a bit too light hearted and comedic in bits.

The Masque of Mandragora - 4 (slow, loggy, with an underexplained magic ending) The Hand of Fear - 7 (doesn't have quite enough meat to it, but very enjoyable nevertheless) The Deadly Assassin - 10 (Deconstructs the Time Lords, Tom seems really engaged, all this and Kennedy assassination jokes too!) The Face of Evil - 8 (a little light on story, but I love the idea of its world with its "mad god" computer - another "villian" that isn't actual evil, just in pain) The Robots of Death - 3 (I've never really "got" this story. Even when it first came out on VHS. It looks lovely, but I can't really engage with it properly. The Talons of Weng-Chiang - 4 (feels like Victoriana pastiche for the sake of it. Lots of ambling about which never seems to add up to anything).
Horror of Fang Rock - 10 (Cast locked in a limited environment. Everyone's moral failings dooming them one by one. Tom getting a really good confrontation with the monster. Marvelous) The Invisible Enemy - 3 (It has some nice model shots, and a hilarious space seafood. But the rest of it.....) Image of the Fendahl - 5 (Inoffensive, but somewhat hamfisted Hammer/Quatermass riff). The Sun Makers - 3 (Perfunctory. Has one or two moments to it, but somehow almost feels too small for its own good) Underworld - 2 (Oh dear, things fall apart with such speed) The Invasion of Time - 8 (Not quite a classic, but does a wonderful job of playing with our expectations of what a Doctor Who story should be - and then has the courage to go for the fake ending two-thirds in!)

I am waiting for Phil to come to Talon's rescue. What is going on!
Also, I really found myself loving Image of the Fendahl when I watched it. I thought it was shockingly good, let down by a slightly duff ending (but then, hey, Doctor Who!)

I can see all the places where "Image of the Fendhal" should be magnificent. I just think it rather drops the ball on pulling any of them off. The closest it gets is in the "MANKIND HAS BEEN USED" moment - and even then that isn't the moment of existential horror that it should be.

The Masque of Mandragora - 3 I've fallen asleep in it several times The Hand of Fear - 7 ELDRAD MUST LIVE!!!! Points off for episode 4 reusing the traps thing again The Deadly Assassin - 8 The Face of Evil - 5 The Robots of Death - 10 brilliant stuff The Talons of Weng-Chiang - 7.... my opinion varies. Lots of good stuff but...
Horror of Fang Rock - 9 - top notch. The Invisible Enemy - 4 Contact had been made. Image of the Fendahl - 6 The Sun Makers - 8 loads of fun Underworld - 1 - for the first episode The Invasion of Time - 5 could have been much better and much worse
I'm sorry but what's with the Robots of Death hatred? It's fab!

I know. I enjoy it as well, not as much as you Phil but still. It was the surprise kicking of Tom's run so far. Andy I always assumed I was alone. It's one that I really didn't get on with first time round, liked it slightly more the second time, but still it just didn't do it for me. Added to that is the completely botched 'mystery' when they show the villain on a big screen near the start, which is apparently supposed to be distorted but anyone with eyes can tell who it is.

The Ribos Operation - 2. Fucking dull and tedious. The Pirate Planet - 10. Solid gold from start to finish. The Stones of Blood - 6. It's fun until the spaceship bollocks starts. The Androids of Tara - 7. Decent runaround. The Power of Kroll - 4. Zzzzzzzzz. The Armageddon Factor - 5. First half is fab but then it just gets dull.
Destiny of the Daleks - 2. The wrong Davros. City of Death - 5. I've just never really got into it. Dudley Simpson's score is terrible. The Creature from the Pit - 7. It's fun! Nightmare of Eden - 7. As is this. I love the crap monsters! The Horns of Nimon - 10. I can watch it again and again. "LORD NIMON? IT IS I! SOLDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!"
And no, I won't rate Shada as it never aired.
