I realised yo've not had my thoughts on #54. It was a game of two halves The second half with Megatron was A+ excellent.
The first half where they get superpowers by being mean to Skids, apparently something no-one had realised in millions of years confused and scared me.

Seeing Nick is now at TFN2016 - I might just get the v7 tpb to get my missing #37,38. Then I only just have one thing to get signed.

There's a large feature on MTMTE and James Roberts in the latest Comic Heroes.

MTMTE 55 is out, I've read it, I can't unread it! There are going to be a lot of upset people for a whole variety of reasons First - RIP Ravage :-( And James wrote him so well. Then TARN ISN'T ROLLER ? EVERYTHING said he was! Bwah? Lots of little details suddenly become important. Loved Megatron with the force bubble generator. Loved the briefcase coming back for encore appearance. The stuff with the disappeared was slightly odd especially as Tarn shows up HUGE big cliffhanger at the end. Rereads in context will be necessary.

That was okay but It feels like a lot of the story was filler (basically the entire plot with Deathsaurus and co served no purpose and took two random deus ex machinas to keep it going and get rid of it (superpowers!! and mind ray!!), almost like it wa added on to the plot very late. The bit with the people being recovered felt very 'convenient' too. I did like the Tarn reveal! But I mean yeah it was ok, just didn't feel like a big 'season finale', more like just another end of an arc, and oddly low-key. Sad about Ravage

Well then. Now that was not quite what I was expecting. On so, so many fronts.
To address blueshift's point, I think that Deathsaurus did have a point in being there. The point being, that Tarn had assembled this glorious army in the name of the Decepticon cause. And he was there to show Megatron that he, Tarn, could be a better Megatron than Megatron could. That would be Megatron's final defeat. (As well as, y'know, his death.)
Instead, at the end, everyone has abandoned the DJD, even Nickel, because they've all seen them for what they really are. Tarn loses in the biggest possible way (and not just by, y'know, dying). Alone. Having lost everything he stood for.
Megatron, on the other hand, does not stand alone. Rodimus appears and offers him his hand. And it's not just Rodimus - it's the entire team that made the suitcase teleport happen. Megatron no longer stands alone. That's what's important.
And slightly over-emphasised by Terminus' return. But yeah. The point being that Megatron's victory was more significant than just beating Tarn in a fight. And Deathsaurus' abandonment of Tarn was part of that - Megatron was able to kill the re-emergent Decepticons before they'd even got started.
Or at least that's my take on it.
I want to be disappointed by the reveal of Tarn's identity, because I was so certain that he was Roller. But... I'm not. Glitch is equally suitable for someone that Megatron would have wanted to turn... and equally notable for being nobody at all without that mask. In the end, I like that.
Plus it also means that I can keep my Unite Warriors Roller around. Hurrah! I guess that makes up for Legends Skids arriving a couple of days after #54 was published. Fuck's sake...
The thing that got me more than Skids, though... was Ravage. Gods, that was tough. Especially because I thought he might actually make it. (Seeing as how a lot of bots have survived what seemed to be worse.) I forget that Ravage is one of my favourite characters until I see him on screen, which is kind of fitting for the stealthy bot that he is. And Roberts has written him so, so well. I'm quite upset that he's gone...
But in all, I thought that was a very satisfying conclusion to "season 2". The threat of the DJD had been present all season, and the conflict was inevitable; that is now resolved. There was always going to be tension with Megatron being on board the Lost Light. That too is now resolved. All the pieces are in place for the start of season 3. Let the games begin!
In December. Shit.

Thanks James! {Spoiler} Jack, my black cat companion for 16 years passed away in my arms the week before last and this really brought that back. Very sad - this was also the first time Ravage was written properly since Marvel UK. Was I the only one who was hoping Megatron would kill a few Autobots when he freaked out at the end and go back to his old ways? Also - in what way was Ravage's 'don't change back' request meant? Don't change back to an Autobot or don't change back into a Decepticon?

Sorry to hear that. :-( Also, just re-read 55 as my reward for completing the weekend's work (yes I know), and... For fuck's sake. When Terminus arrives in the Fortress his first words are "Megatron - is that you?" The scene ends with Megatron and Terminus hugging, with the stolen Decepticon sigil fallen on the floor... with Tarn's crown being crushed under Megatron's foot.
HOW did I not notice that first time round?
Well, because of everything else going on. Damn you, Roberts!

MTMTE 57: I've read it, I can't unread it. If you've not read these last two issues because it's a crossover you've missed out. Top, TOP work this issue: Flashbacks, explanations and, I'm really serious about the spoiler here, TABLE FLIPPING! (I CHEERED!) Fab issue, loved it!

Got tpb v10 today.
parts 1-6 then No guns, no swords, no briefcases at the end of the book. At last Tarn is revealed. Roller is back & like the fact Roller turns up just when we find out who Tarn is - no reveal in case no ones read #55
