I'd rather they did the G1 homages than bright pink random repaints.

I have a good memory of the original '86 Magnus toy. When I was at Junior school back in the day I knew two brothers - both of them were older than me. The youngest one was nice to me and whenever he brought his 'white Prime' Ultra Magnus truck into school he would let me play with it but when his elder brother saw me playing with it he had a tendency to come up to me, snatch it out of my hands and accuse me of stealing it off his brother!
I only have two Ultra Magnus toys. One is the Titanium version which is okay while the other is the Classics repaint. I do actually like the Classics one and think it looks better than the red Prime version of the same toy.

When they first started doing it, it was really fun, unusual and novel. Now it seems more like a 'ticking the box' exercise where every Prime is repainted into Magnus. Just like how every Starscream mold, no matter what universe it is in, gets repainted into Skywarp and Thundercracker. It's really really boring now But those first ones were great. I love Masterpiece Magnus just for how odd it is. Also the white die-cast works really really well, Its not that bad surely. Non of the animated Primes became Magnus, Non of the movie Primes either, though you could make a case for Nightwatch Prime, but that was a great repaint. Classics did the repaint. Only one out of 5 + moulds during AEC got the white treatment too. Of the repaints as I said Supercon Magnus is great, MP I'm on the fence about, Laser Magnus is not a white repaint so shouldn't be counted. WST, its only diddy and its the original G1 so it feels like a legit repaint to me. Titanium, wasn't that some random exclusive or something and does anyone really count revoltech and even if you do with the Pat Lee inspired look the repaint isn't exactly a suprise. Andy

True, I forgot about the huge glut of Movie Prime molds out there!

I am actually amazed that not one of them has had an Ultra Magnus treatment when some of them have been repainted 5+ times.

Despite it being done on the first Magnus in 86 ? Well with that, the repainted part was hidden by the armour. I object to the likes of MP Magnus - they could have at least added some snap on parts to make him actually look like Ultra Magnus.

I liked the Blue and Yellow Optimus Primes we got with the eHobby Ultra Magnuses.
I will always see Ultra Magnus as the character portrayed in the Marvel comics. So a white Optimus is just his cab, that disappears somewhere when he transformers. Kind of like Optimus's trailer!

I'm against White Prime Magnus's as well. Once or twice it was different, but for me, Magnus is armoured and that's that. I keep thinking about finding one of those Fansproject sets.
Is there any backstories about why Magnus's inner robot is like Prime only white?

I think Dreamwave concocted a silly story that they were both brothers hence why they looked alike.

I think maybe because I played with the white cab robot as much as I did with the armoured mode is the reason I don't mind them. And also I didn't have an original Prime until 1990s classic so having the original mould made me happy when I realised they were the same thanks to ladybird.

I'm just waiting for them to start doing blue and black repaints and calling it Powered Convoy.
The colours work so well it amazes me the closest we've gotten are the Nightwatches.

I'd buy a Pimp Daddy version, like they did with 25th Destro. Yeah, baby.

What about the white Overload that got called Ultra Magnus in the Armada toyline? Bit of a switch there?

I was going to post some links but internet was slow.
I'm looking at that Terradive as Windsweeper.

Also what new toys would make good toys repainted for the Pretenders - i can't remember what the 6 not released in the UK transform into. I'm going to check for images later on.

Rather than repaints, I'd like to see toys of the Animated "Pretenders".
