Clutching my Funtastic Cybertron Scrpametal KO I thought it would have been nice to have done it in blue to make up for the missing Hasbro version of Galaxy Force Ramble.

Which then got me thinking about if it would be possible to do a case of Scout (Scout/Basic/Flipchanger/Minicon 3 pack) repaints.

Ideas are welcome.

I know its a cliché, but always thought TM Megatron with a new head as Grimlock would have been great. Just about every other BW dino got the Dinobot treatment eventually except TM Megs. Very annoying.

And now we *are* getting a BW Optimus toy repainted as Ultra Magnus.
And it is a thing of beauty!

Ultra Mammoth is just beyond words! I spoke with Pete@botcon, and he said he was mostly behind it. I have to hand it to him, Pete understands Beast Wars! Even the name hits the right marks!

I had never thought about a "Yeti" Ultra Magnus. Though I always wanted to see TM Primal repainted as Magnus, feeling that would really work well. The beast mode and robot modes carry two separate colorschemes, the head feels more like Magnus. So in gorilla, you could have the white magnus, in the form of an albino gorilla, As the robot, you could have the supermode colors.

However, I have to say I'm in love with Ultra Mammoth, and couldn't be happier with this new direction.


I think there are still tons of open opportunities for Beast Wars, relying on repaints.

Ursa Major vs Twilight Primal- Polarclaw in a translucent blue with metallic flakes, and Mach Kick in a Twilight Sparkle deco, with his maximal symbol as a cutie mark.

Would absolutely KILL for Clawjaw to be released in colorchanging plastic. Don't know what character. But it's ashame not to capitalize on the squid's natural ability to change colors. Also, don't know what character, but Bonecrusher really needs a white deco.

Also always wanted to see TM2 Cheetor repainted and released as a revived, transformerized Snowstalker.

What repaints/retools do you wish to see, that hasn't happened already?

For me, I'm biggest on Pre-Beasts, G2 updates, and Gobots. So that's where the bulk of my desires go.
I also feel FunPub missed the mark on a lot of their DofP choices. Some I feel have gotten better base molds since.

My personal bugbear is when something look like it should be something and isn't repainted that way. Thankfully a few years back G2 Hooligan & MW Mirage got repainted as Jetfire & G1 Mirage in Robotmasters.

Still on the list are:

Armada Hoist as Scavenger - green for white, purple for brown, orange & blue
Armada Wheeljack as Armada Autobot Wheeljack - white for black and grey for white, fix the broken Autobot symbol (ditto bellow for that last bit)
Armada Wheeljack as Sideswipe - red for black and black for white
Armada Wheeljack as Sunstreaker - yellow for black and black for white
Night Slash Cheetor as Cheetor - yellow for black & grey, clear green for clear orange.
Waspinator as Bumblebee - yellow for green, black for grey, dark clear blue for the wings and lightpipe. Similar to Buzzsaw but just different enough.
Armada Demolishor as Sixshot - green for Red, white for beige, green for the dark grey and silve for the light grey.
MW Hoist in dark green & orange as G1 Hoist.

Other things I'd like to see

The orange version of Tigatron with the green swapped for red as Beast Wars Hooligan.

I'd repaint the Machine Wars Wrecker Truck two more times: once in Red & Blue as Optimus and once in Red & Yellow/orange as Rodimus with a flame deco. (these take their que from a KO Iown in the Prime colours with flames which looks better than any of the official colours)

The Star Sabre minicon team twice in clear red and clear purple.

I was going to make a new thread for this the other day, but got sidetracked, and now this one's been resurrected I might as well put it in here; who would make an excellent version of character X Y or Z with a new head, and paintjob? Headswaps are one of those relatively quick and painless customs, and can have surprising results. Inspired by someone else's custom elsewhere, I want to turn HftD Rescue Ratchet into a "Classics" style Fixit or First Aid, for example. The TFCC already made Runamuck out of a (slightly remoulded) Generations Wheeljack with new head. Any suggestions welcome!

Just like Phil with BW, it's my personal goal to find a repaint for every Animated figure.

And for me, I *really* love thinking outside the box. So I tend to twist ideas around, and make something new out of them. I just wish there were more choices, more females, and more of... well.... everything.
There are some things I pass on, simply because I feel that the character is far better served with an original design, such as Skybyte. I personally dispise the "Repaint from Lugnut" concept, and ignore it. He deserves his own design. Sideburn, too.

Also to help understand my mindset, "Beast Era" Cybertron, there are more than just Maximals and Predacons. There are also Ultracons (entirely fliers. They're the true decendents of the Decepticons), Terrocons (A terrorist orginization more than a true faction), Dinobots (Decended from the original three dinobots), and possibly others (Like Junkions, maybe?). Just because someone is a dinobot, doesn't mean they're automatically a good guy, and just because someone is an ultracon, doesn't mean they're automatically a bad guy.
Also, "Primal" is an honorary title, that carries the civilian equivalent of Prime.
