Ok. Size-wise that works for me. He's on the small size, but he's ok.
I... erm, I'm not sure I'm liking that robot mode at all, you know. I don't like the head/face. The 3P offering is in the lead for me, blue window or no blue window.

Where are those excellent photos Sifu took of the 3P Bumblebee?

He's tiny! But then we always expected him to be, with the rigid adherence to Masterpiece scale, and all. What'd really like to see is a comparison of his vehicle mode compared to the other cars. And then a comparison of both modes compared to the already-very-nice Classics release.
I really should pre-order this guy before I talk myself out of it with logic or something...

You know what? All that picture does for me is make me realise that I don't care about scale in Masterpiece. Transformers have never been in scale anyway. I want a foot-tall, super-articulated, metal Bumblebee, like Masterpiece used to be. (But, yes, it does look nice.)

If vehicle mode is in scale, then fine, but I don't think it will be. Needs to be a head taller.

Yes, I agree, Stom, he's just too small. As Llama says, a comparison to Classics would be interesting.

Been looking at Toyworld's 'Bii' on line. Both figures appear to be a similar size, although there are no direct comparisons out there. That would appear to put them about the same height as Classics Bumblebee, perhaps a smidge shorter even, and Bii in particular looks alot less bulky. I have say I am moving toward Bii. In robot mode, his styling is more 'cartoony', perhaps too cartoony for some, but it's friendlier somehow, nicer in the face, and looks in keeping with MP Prime and Prowl, and the blue window isn't bothering me as much since first I saw him in Sifu's photos. MP Bumblebee looks more like an Alternity figure as someone's already said. Not as smooth or simplistic in robot mode as Bii. Vehicle mode, well Bii is very cartoony, with his deformed car form. Works for me, very G1 toy-like and nostalgic, but stands out against the more acurate MP cars quite a bit. As a robot mode displayer this wouldn't bother me though, I don't think.

Y'know I don't think we can judge this figure until we see it in Yellow. I think the paint will soften the headsculpt a lot and hide a lot of the engineering lines causing the robot to feel a little disjointed.
Although Classics Bumblebee headsculpt is so perfect, will be tough to top.

Please sir! And Mania King! Don't so much need photos, more some thoughts on build with a view to how good not Cykill might be.
On topic - the car mode will be silly small surely? Robot mode is the right height, but I agree, we need to see it painted up. I do think because of the SD nature of the original this is an impossible toy to get right in the MP style, the two are just at odds. So I'm not surprised they are going for getting the robot mode the right height. whether it actually looks right though... Jury's out.

That was my first thought, too - a VW Beetle isn't that much smaller than a Datsun! Seeing as they're working off of the old character model size chart though, they'll be favouring robot mode.
I quite like the look of him so far, but agree it would be nice to see some colour pics. The face isn't great, but if I'm paying out for this I'll also be looking for the Amazon-exclusive mask and he'll pretty much be permanently wearing it anyway!

Fantastic, Sifu, thank you! Excellent. Yes I think Bii looks perfect in robot mode with the other MPs. Something about his more simplistic smoother design that works.
And I look forward to the other reviews when you get chance, sir. Real Life is annoying when one has better things to do! Like play with Transforners!
Bii is in the lead with this handsome young Transformers collector! But colour pics of the MP are urgently required.

Seeing as they're working off of the old character model size chart though, they'll be favouring robot mode. -Jim I've grown up with a beetle, and my first girlfriend's dad is a Nissan/Datsun Z enthusiast and collector. So I've been around a classic Fairelady. I have to say the beetle is actually a bit larger than the Zs are. Jazz' porshe wouldn't be much bigger that Prowl, if at all. Beetles were tiny cars back in the sixties and early seventies, but back then an average car was a land yacht. But in modern times, they're pretty average sized. So yeah. I get tired of the myth that bumblebee has to be half the size of cars he should be bigger than, because "beetles are tiny." Funny thing is, given the way 'bee transforms, he uses most of the car's size and expands it, by standing it on end. While cars like Prowl and Jazz collapse parts of it horizontally, not using the car's full size to add to the robot's height the same way 'bee, cliff, and hubcap do. Tracks, wheeljack, and sunstreaker, too. Honestly, the lambo brothers should be the largest. On par with the two pickups and vans. Lamborghinis are huge.

Wonder if Toyworld could be persuaded to do a revision of Bii with transparent windows. Wouldn't even matter if it didn't display seats inside. I think that is all that stopped me impulse buying when it first came out.
Not until they've done another Headmaster though. That is officially a rule.

Hmmm. I'm thinking at the moment that Toyworld have the edge on this. It'd come down to build quality and finish once the figure is in hand.

Not sure where he got it from but my buddy on Facebook just listed this pic. It's a proper scan of the full page and shows the robot off nicely. One of my few niggles with Bii is the wheels folding under his feet. It's interesting to see the MP version shares the same mechanic. The scale next to MP-10 puts him bang-on though.

No me neither. I don't like his mid-area either. I just, dunno, feeling cold towards him and MP Magnus at the mo. Bit of a concern as MPs are my thing.
Looking again at the 3P Bii.

I dunno. I still like Bumblebee, but... No, it's the face. I'm not keen on the face. Classics 'Bee had a great face. They should have just re-used that. I know that they're trying to capture that classic G1 cartoon look, but the G1 cartoon was mostly animated in sweat shops*, so, y'know...
(*This may or may not be true. But it wasn't exactly Disney.)

Body does look very bulky for those skinny legs. Hmm. I'm going by the fact that's still a prototype. Not that the figure will change but the finish on the production version should be more polished, might get rid of that thick back line round the edge of the face.
