Thanks Andy that's very interesting. I've been looking closely at pics on the intersnatch, and, armed as I now am with the knowledge that Bii doesn't quite fit in with MPs, Bumblebee is looking better to me. I like the detail on him and the transformation does look nice. He looks very orange though. What's his colour like in person?

I had read people moaning about it being movie bee orange/yellow rather than yellow before I got it. Then I got it and didnt even think about it for a couple of days, I did notice this morning when comparing it to classic bee and yeah its darker yellow closer to the movie colour, but it looks good and stand it next to any orange transformer and it is definitely more yellow than orange. I dont look at it and think why is bumblebee orange?
also I have to wonder given how slavish they are to g1, particularly the cartoon, if the bright yellow was tried and just didnt work. Im looking at the classicbee next to rts bee and henkei goldbug bee and the yellow of the original makes it look cheaper. Compared to sideswipe and g2 swipe tiger tracks yellow also looks a bit less impressive.

If hasbro release it I wouldnt be surprised to see a bright yellow though. It would be interesting then to compare, of course not if they tried charging £60 for it.
which they would.

Hmmmm. You know what, that is a really good point! Yellowy yellow not looking good on MPs. Yes. That may swing it.

Finally got the little guy. Totally in love, this guy is ace! Its also got one of my favourite bits of engineering from any transformer I can think of. Is this to do with the slot in the mid-section? I'm glad they've left a decent amount of tolerence for it, after the green scrapes people were getting on their MP Rodimus' spoiler.

Yup thats the one. Very elegant solution and as you say they got the engineering just right.

I've snapped! DAMN YOU ALL!!! I've got MP BB on the way. Bii is great, but he just doesn't cut in anymore next to the other Masterpieces.

Yay!
I was surprised how getting Bee influenced my opinion of classic Bee. Had it for heading on 9 years and always thought it looked great, but stand MP bee next to it it starts to look kinda funny, they are almost exactly the same height but classic bee is so much wider and flatter and chunkier.
Still great and all. Just strange seeing it in a new light after so long.

Postman tried to deliver mine on Christmas Eve - but I was at work - collected it just before the new year and love the little guy.
Awesome!
First ever licensed VW Transformer too.....

Yeah - didn't VW they block the Binal-Tech license because TF were considered too violent as most were packed with guns?
And wasn't there some picture of a BMW-Mini version of Bumblebee too that never got made?

I've got to say I think the wee guy is fantastically well done. I've been put off 'bee toys after the glut of them from the last few years, but this was definitely a good purchase.

So how orange it looks really depends on whos hes stood next to.

I wish he had blue on him like in the comic.
He does indeed look very orange.
Blimey, Sunstorm looks vivid!

Sunstorm is glorious. Andy and Karl both agreed once their eyes adjusted.
I guess a Grimlock-esque Marvel Edition with blue instead of black is an option for a later mould re-use. I wonder what it would come with. Buster and Jessie on bicycles?

Thanks, Andy those are very interesting pictures. They make me happy. Bumblebee is very orangey, but, if you look at the (puke)yellow of Sunstorm, I'd have hoped Bumblebee in comparison (and indeed any future Sunstreaker) would be a shade darker yellow. So, I think Bumblebee is a shade too dark, a shade too orangey, but rather that than having to restart my optical processors after each time I look at him!

I really do think MP Bee is a toy that does not photograph well. Ever. Even now I have it I look at photos and think it looks like c^&%!

It's the face that ruins it. I'm renaming him hamster-cheeks. That's why the Amazon face plate works. It's too human and too chubby.

I dont mind the smiley one, again it looks terrible in photos which is why I paid extra to get the amazon mask, but in person it's okay. I even ended up preferring the smile. The battle mask looks great, but sat inside cartoon Bees head it freaks me out a bit.
The serious Bee face is just terrifying.

You're all mad, the face is amazing.
The colour is also fine. I suspect with the combination of coloured plastic and painted plastic, making it a deeper yellow made it a bit easier to match the colours up.

OH MY SWEET LORD!!!!!
WHAT A SUPERB LITTLE FIGURE!!!!
Masterpiece Bumblebee is fantastic! Such a clever little figure! How could I have been so wrong? I'm struggling to find fault with him really! The square on his chest doesn't stand out as much as I feared, but I wish it wasn't there, and he is a shade or two too dark perhaps, but I don't really mind all that much in the plastic. Superb figure. Really excellent 'MP styling'. And I'm with Stom', I love his faces. Love the little good-natured hamster face. I'm very pleased with him. (VERY EXPENSIVE THOUGH).

Exosuit Spike/Daniel troubles me greatly. Not only is he eyeless, he appears to have no body either as where his chest should be opens in a way that means it doesnt really matter if the rest of his body below there is present or not.

I was disappointed in the head. As per my earlier post, from the pictures I thought it was weighted to tilt up automatically when you laid him flat. But alas, you have to take the helmet off and reposition it.

Don't be silly - they wouldn't bother with that kind of engineering in a "Masterpiece" figure! And again we're back to my whole bitching about how "Masterpieces" aren't actually masterpieces any more but are instead just quite nice. And I'll stop there. :-)
