I've said it once, I'll say it again: third party companies love head swaps and the removable component of this guy's face will make it even more attractive. Especially as there's quite a lot of discontent elsewhere with it. Also, as it's not been mentioned yet: Has anyone encountered the Art Feather Bumblebee? I very nearly bought him for £40 off eBay (new) about six months ago but then Bii came along and he was forgotten. He's the nearest to an MP Bumblebee we've had so far (right scale, VW-accurate alt mode etc). To my eye, he looks like a classics Bumblebee robot with a VW alt mode.

I think my problem with needing 3rd party things to make Hasbro/Tomy toys 'work' is that the likes of the MP toys are already very expensive as it is before shelling out for more stuff to 'complete' them. Means only a small number of fans can afford to get the 'perfect' figure of a favourite character if that is what they want.

I am actually quite disappointed that he has visibly-hollow fore-arms. This is, after all, meant to be a "Masterpiece". You'd have thought that they would have tried harder.
I'm not cancelling my pre-order, but every picture I see makes me reconsider just sticking with classics 'Bee...

He looks nice. I am personally not too fussed about the hollow forearms, but it does look a shame that they can't make the panels hanging off the arms fold up to cover that gap. While the left arm doesn't look like that could be done, the right arm makes me wonder if it is possible.
Here is hoping that it is a the typical official mistransformation pic, but personally I think he looks beautiful.

Oh no. No no no. Been going off this figure for a while, and this is now the final nail. Bii is going to be ordered this very day. If he looks half as good in person as he does in Sifu's photos, I'll be a happy mother-hubber. First time they've done a Masterpiece that I out-right don't like. I don't like the arms, the legs, the body or his face.

I can't decide if I like it or not. Pretty sure the arm panels should fold around to fill the void. The rest of it I can't decide about because of the sizeof the thing. I keep trying to compare him to Prowl or Sideswipe, but those figures are nearly twice the size. So all the joints that look very clunky because I can't help but picture it as a voyager should look far better on the deluxe sized figure when I have it in hand.
Hopefully.
I still dont like the chest, all those sharp angles where the elongated beetle roof folds away make it look all wrong.

Yeah... Dammit... I... Ah. I'll buy it anyway. I can always re-sell later if he completely sucks. And I want to be loyal to the one, true Bumblebee. (As opposed to his live-action counterpart. That stupid, violent, frat-boy pretender.)
Still. I shouldn't be *this* uncertain about a "Masterpiece"...

The roof panel looks so odd with that square there, hope the finished version is a lot cleaner looking.

I was thinking that. If it's just a square in robot AND car mode - what's it for? it looks like it should flip over, but it doesn't appear to need to in either mode.
I'm with ShockProwl on this at the moment. I will no doubt end up buying this for completion's sake (and the Daniel extra) but Bii is now looking superior to me.

Is it? I thought we had him with MP10. Mind you that could have been anyone.

It is logical sense since it was always Spike and Bumblebee hanging out. Plus In the movie Spike was in his exosuit along with Bee.
Though it would not surprise me if a Daniel variant came with what ever they remold/repaint Bumblebee into. Or they just bring out that long awaited MP Wheelie.

No, definitely Spike. Daniel'll be an accessory for Masterpiece Wheelie.

The square is there to display an Autobot symbol in Robot mode but a yellow roof in vehicle mode. The pictures in Generations 2014 v1 show this but don't know it they're online

he does look better with the Autobot symbol on the chest, but that link doesn't give us a good look at those forearms. it doesn't look like those gaps get covered.

The square is there to display an Autobot symbol in Robot mode but a yellow roof in vehicle mode. The pictures in Generations 2014 v1 show this but don't know it they're online Oh that's daft. So just to avoid having an autobot symbol on his roof in car mode he has to have the outline of a square in both? I know the production toy will make that black square less visible, but even so. There's an Autobot symbol on the bonnet - that could have been on the roof. Silly. I am not digging that head. I look at that and look at Prowl on the shelf next to me, and we're both shrugging. These toys may be cartoon aimed, but the cars so far have had nicely refined heads that give an air of sophistication. That Bumblebee head is way too cartoony. If I end up with him he's gettin' plugged with the Amazon faceplate.

They did the same thing with Binal-Tech Hound and it was an 11/10 feature IMO. However - Hound was dark green so the lines were less noticeable.

The Amazon faceplate goes some way toward saving this toy if you ask me. A toy accurate face isn't essential to me, but that looks much better.

I posted my initial opinions on MP 'Bee in the acquisitions thread (because I am not very clever), but I have to say that I'm still really liking this figure. As long as I forget how much I paid for it.
And yes, cost is a valid gripe. The figure that sprang to mind was Transmetals Rhinox, who I also adore. The figure was about the same size, well decorated, and had a transformation that was complicated enough to be interesting, but not so complicated as to be annoying. A lot of fun to play with. But that was only a Deluxe. And thus a fifth of the cost of MP 'Bee.
Still, that was 15 years ago, and inflation and all. And that aside, I like MP 'Bee. I must say, I'm really not that keen on the "cartoon accurate" faces, but with the battle mask on he looks brilliant. Spike/Daniel I'm less enthusiastic about, but then it is Spike/Daniel - still, it's a solid enough, and well made little figure. I'm not regretting this at all.
Although I have a sneaking suspicion that I may regret it when they do the inevitable Goldbug repaint/resculpt. Because if there's something I love more than Bumblebee, it's Goldbug...

I'M HAVING A BUMBLEBEE EMERGENCY!!!
I am now unconcinced Bii goes well enough with my other MP Autobots. When it was just Optimus Prime and Prowl it was fine. Then Sideswipe came along, then Wheeljack... And now with Brawny and Huff amoung the ranks, who both have their issues but look amazing, dear old Bii looks lacking style wise. He looks too 'Classicy' and not enough 'MPy'. Is MP 'Bee back on the menu?!?!?! Help!

MP Bumblebee is well worth it. Thats to say its a great toy, the price is debatable.
I wasnt entirely convinced by the photos and I still dont like the realistic car mode and neither of the two faces that come in the box is perfect, but it is so good. The robot is fun and the transformation is fun. Car mode is nice and solid too. Its also got one of my favourite bits of engineering from any transformer I can think of.
it is expensive though, spike is nice, but stand the pair next to mp prowl and its hard to say they should be the same price. I got mine from ebay with the battle mask for £50 and im just about okay with it (the datsuns and lambo moulds all cost me a little more and didn't have amazon accessories), but I feel like it should have been £5-10 less.
