Yeah they didn't really fit with the play pattern for the rest of the Autobots in the line. You've caught Burnsitus: Landmine is meh, Bulkhead is a cool Springer homage and his repaint Quickstrike look so nice in red: one on eBay as I type for the cheapest I've seen it in year! Did you see the Magnus repaint of Overload and white Tidal Wave? The Energon line was all over the place. The small size had the combining weapons (nice idea terrible execution in using fragile transparent plastic) and the energon stars (I assume the idea was that they fit over the Autobot logo, the convex part magnifying it to make it look bigger but it never ever worked??) The deluxe Autobots combined (good!) The deluxe Decepticons had a weapon-up supermode (good in theory, variable in practice) The Voyager Autobots combined (good!) OR combined only with Prime (wingsaber) OR combined only with each other (Mega Dinobot), the Voyager Decepticons were weapon-up supermode (Mirage) OR triple changer (Shockblast). Also Alpha Q. The Ultra Autobots had supermodes (the Decepticon gimmick) and didn't combine with any of the other Autobots, and Scorponok was a triple changer. Leader class, Optimus Prime only combined with his drones and had no interactivity with any other Autobot apart from Wing Saber and Omega Supreme. Megatron didn't have a supermode or triplechanger. No gimmick at all (he should have had drones too! Or the tank be a drone) Supreme, Omega Supreme combined with Prime and drones, which was good. For a line based on cross-compatibility, they didn't go a great job. Also they launched it with waves mostly of repaint toys from the previous line which featured none of the lines main gimmicks. That said I did really enjoy the deluxe Autobots and Omnibots, before the transparent plastic all shattered like glass! It should have been so much better! They should have decided on a universal combination point for the drones, the Autobots and the brute-mode weapons and made them all cross compatible. Hell, whack some sort of combining port on the Omnibots too. Something.

I never saw any of those!
Lots of Ultra Magnuses, lots of Treadbolts (We never got Armada Scavenger down here, you know! I'd have bought one!!!!)

The Magnus is the next size up, with some Minicons to bulk it out.
I don't think anyone's ever claimed to have seen the Voyager Spaceship Jetfire and Boat Mirage before. And yet Ralph saw both of them and Wing Sabre!
We are talking TRU here and not some dodgy importer?
Matt you got very lucky escaping Scavenger mountains we had in The Smoke.

I regret not picking up an Energon Magnus. -Ralph I regret selling mine, in a "one of each mould" purge. May have to fix that. Such nice colours.

I loved Custard Overload, even though the build quality was horrible.

It's a shame that for the most part there's no UK sightings available to check with for this period. The previous versions of this forum are long gone. TFW had an outage in 2006 and lost most thread data before then www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-sightings/86570-united-kingdom-transformers-sightings.htmlTMUK chat is really all there is but at about that time we were migrating here for our day to day business groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/tmuk-chat/infoI'd be casting doubt on spurious regional reports if it wasn't for having experienced it myself: The ONLY time I ever saw Armada Overload on sale was in the Whitney Woolworths. (again Ralph and Karl tell me they saw plenty of him in Scottish ASDAs) Never once in SW London and the environs and at that time I was travelling widely looking for toys. But the "ENERGON Jetfire and Mirage WERE released in the UK" is a new one on me. Anyone else see them?

I loved Custard Overload, even though the build quality was horrible. Ah, the great Entertainer remaindered exclusives :-) Costco Op & Overload Sam's Club Prowl & Starscream KB Demolishor and Cyclonus Battle in a Box Smokescreen & Liftor vs. Ransack & Refute and Ultra Magnus & Over-Run vs. Treadshot & Nightbeat That was an expensive day! All gone now bar the Magnus/Treadshot Battle in a box :-(

Comparatively they were .... but two £5 deluxes, a pair of £10 BIAB sets, a £20 Voyager VS pack and a £40(?) Op & Overload pack is still the best part of three figures when all bought at once!
Demolishor and Cyclonus disappeared as fast as anything!

Op and Overload were £30. A crazy price!!
Build quality on that pack and the Red Alert/Starscream pack were both horrible. Cheap feeling, ratchet joints that didn't really work, plastic that stressmarked just by transforming it. But still, ace stuff!!

Op and Overload were £30. A crazy price!! I recall it being something radio rental. Still sat. Very big and not terribly robust box iirc, MASSIVE window panel. Ultras.... Obviously I remember the shelf warming white Tidal Wave/Ultra Magnus case. Scorpopnok turned up after that solid cased but sold OK cos he was Scorponok. Then it was solid cased Landmines. But I don't recall if we got Bulkhead/Springer and I'm certain we didn't get Quickstrike and Landquake. That Quickstrike's still there on eBay. £25. I can't afford it.

Can't see the handle for his propeller though!

A quick eBay search suggests this toy is doing sensible numbers for boxed examples now.
Beachcomber & Wing Saber are both still HOW MUCH?????
Mega Dinobot also looks to have calmed down a little bit.

Handle? I can see the peg in the centre of the rota which attaches to the helicopter. He's got this giant chunk of helicopter that he holds in his hand like a gun and the rotor attaches to www.tfu.info/2005/Autobot/Quickstrike/quickstrike.htmI mean I assume it's plugged into his back but you gotta be careful!!

So because I have Titans Return Triggerhappy I went looking for the only update of one of his 87 Tragetmaster team mates, Energon Slugslinger.
I had forgotten how much I hated the TF on that toy. Had to get an image of the plane mode underside off the internet to Transform it right!

So many people complained about having a tiny tank stuck on the door of an SUV, but I thought that was what made it so great.
And the energon version wasn't perfect, but was amazingly fun to swap all the torsos and legs. Only wish there had been a few more molds.

Mind you, the tooling up with Weaponiser parts is reminiscent of the Armada Powerlinxing too.

Yeah, Energon Powerlinxing. So much fun to be had with trouser modes and such.
I had Rodimus, Downshift, Inferno and Prowl for a while. and with the exception of Prowl, were all pretty much fab. Still got Inferno, actually.
