Surprisingly, 2D bookings are up for the World of Cine (usually 2D bookings are restricted until the Tuesday before the film opens). Come around 6-ish on Friday I will find out if 'Superman' bleeds.

Will be watching it on Friday.
I think Batfleck will be good and I am hoping to be impressed by the film, but Zack Snyder's track record speaks for itself.

There's just too much going on for this to be coherent. It intruduces the concepts of Batman, Robin, Lex Luthor, Doomsday (an Endgame villain, IMO), Wonder Woman, the Amazons, Themyscera, Aquaman, Atlantis, and through the latter five, the greek gods, into a world that is barely established, and already a clusterfuck of a mess after the end of MoS. each one of these concepts is pretty deserving of a movie of it's own, to set up.

I was originally going to go and see this on Friday as a distraction once I'd got my dissertation proposal handed-in. But I strongly suspect I'm going to be switching straight back from working on that to trying to code a website once it is handed in. I may see about going to see it at some point later in the weekend depending on how much time I have. Not really in any huge hurry though.
I reckon Affleck will be a good Batman, and I have hope that Gal Gadot will be a decent Wonder Woman. She certainly looks the part. But...Zack Snyder, doing a Superhero movie...the track record suggests that I set my expectations of the rest of it suitably low.

Well the reviews have started to come in. Doesn't look good, although I will judge for myself on Friday. No, Warner Bros have apparently purchased a ton of reviews from one of those chinese internet work factory things; the Batman Vs Superman film has a high rating on IMDB with lots of positive reviews in Engrish by brand new day-old accounts. It's sort of hilarious if it wasn't so sad.

Really? That's mad. Who goes to IMDB to look for movie reviews anyway?
As is the case for most films, I am avoiding reviews until after I see the film.

im going next week, not holding out much hope after the reviews but I wanna see Batman and Superman kick the shit out of each other and ill be happy! Well, its a Zack Snyder film. I'm expecting something along the lines of Man of Steel, Watchmen and Sucker Punch, ie a few moments of amazing spectacle but the rest being a bit devoid of fun and too dark for my liking. It's a shame as I'm a much bigger fanboy of DC than Marvel. I can see why DC wants to double down on the Dark Knight aesthetic, but eeh.

I can't help but feel sudden enthusiasm as 8-year old inner Ralph wants it to be great. Thus, I have red hazed on the CLASH OF THE HEROES Lego set so I can have GLOW IN THE DARK EYES Batfleck. I currently have him smiting DARK GRIM SUPERMAN upon, er, the tiny and pathetic 'rooftop' they come with. However, I have given DARK GRIM SUPERMAN the HAPPY FACE OF PEACE as opposed to his alternate I WILL KILL YOU face.
POW! ZAP! BLAM! COMICS AREN'T FOR KIDS ANYMORE! WAZOOM!

Oh boy! Well I braved it and it didn't kill me. I dont think it made me stronger, but I live. Spoiler free comments Its long. Stuff happens thats mostly been shown in the trailers and then its over. Its not bad, but so much is so forced. Not really spoilers, but better safe.....
Batfleck. Very good, but never quite stops being Affleck if you get my meaning.
The opening ties into the end of MOS, but is better than MOS. Its essentially the movie I wish MOS could have been.
I dont like Wonder Womans costume, but the character and the performance were good.
I know DC want to be all grown up and serious, but there are 2 damn jokes in the entire movie and one of them is in the trailers. Alfred raises the odd smile and Lex tries, but if the trailers didnt impress you nothing here will.
Its so dark. I can't see.
Note to Superman- If you dont want people thinking you are a god: -Stop floating in front of the sun so iconically. Just get on with helping people. -Say something. -Dont stand around looking disinterested in the tiresome mortals.
They havent really grasped the issue of dead civilians that people raise after seeing MOS. Rather they just try to pretend it isnt happening.
The ending is not as bad, but sort of in the Fantfourstic ball park.
Fight scenes are variable. The more cg the worse they get.
The "world building" introduction of the various upcoming films is pretty damned forced even compared to MCU standards.
Am I right in thinking this started out as Superman 2 and not Batman 1? Because it feels more like a Batfleck film with guests than Superman and guests.

I enjoyed it. Nothing amazing and the attempts to shoehorn in Other DC Stuff is very forced but that just amused me rather than annoyed. Affleck was very wooden and Gadot just cannot act for toffee yet both were endearing to watch. Superman is still a dick. Cavill tried hard in a thankless role.
It was fine. I doubt it will stick in the mind much but passable popcorn flick for a Friday night after a long week at work.
Snyder's least worst film. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it despite the many flaws.

Am I right in thinking this started out as Superman 2 and not Batman 1? Because it feels more like a Batfleck film with guests than Superman and guests. Yeah, it was a bit of a rush decision on making the film, and they decided a couple of days before announcing at SDCC. Man of Steel had only been out about a month at that point. After more feedback from Man of Steel came in, they switched out to Batman as the lead name, I guess due to lack of confidence in the Superman brand. Film itself, I wasn't very impressed with the story. Some bits I didn't like: {Spoiler}- Too many dream sequences, and a lot of it didn't make sense unless you knew the comics - namely Lex Luthor's motivation. Luthor was played like a Joel Schumacher Batman villain, which didn't fit.
- The reveal of the other Justice Leaguers as naughty youtube vids on Luthor's laptop was a poor way of introducing the characters [Aquaman was holding his breath! And his long hair was definitely a hindrance underwater. Cyborg cheapened the character by having his dad give up and stick a motherbox on him].
- The bonding over Martha mother bit during the fight felt forced, the Batman you're shown in that film would've straight up killed Supes for mentioning the dead mother.
- The Doomsday nonsense at the end felt artificially tacked on to have a big fight finish, especially the Kryptonite spear. Superman leaves the fight to save one person, proving Luthor right. Wonder Woman contribution to the fight is mainly to provide Doomsday the spike with which he kills Supes. Would've been nicer to see her holding her own while Supes is off saving Lois. And laser eyes still don't quite work on screen yet.
- Fakeout ending, we know Superman isn't dead, you don't have to show it in this movie. Stick by your ending. Although I do accept that I know he's returning as I know comics and some movie audience may not. Some bits I did like: {Spoiler}- Irons Alfred. Don't like the actor, but sassy Alfred is better than the Caine portrayal.
- No after credits scene. I had to leave to catch my train anyway so didn't sit to wait and see if there was one, but it's better when they stick that stuff either in the movie, or early into the credits. Forcing punters to wait another 5-10 mins after a 150 min movie isn't cool.
- Some good visuals. Snyder can compose some great looking shots. The bit where Superman saves the Mexican kid and floats down to the mere mortals as they reach up to him. Superman's cape usually looked great. The Trinity at the end standing next to dead Supes, looked like some kind of Renaissance tragedy painting, complete with burning cross in the background. Too much slow motion though, could've shaved 30 mins off the runtime without it. Overall, I'm not a huge fan of the Marvel movies and this is pretty much the same vein, but less entertaining.

Not without flaws but enjoyable. {Spoiler}Eisenberg's Luthor lacked any intimidating presence, at first I thought he was going for a deliberately socially awkward outward persona in public, but his speech at the book shindig put paid to that. He had no real power or threat to him and it felt like he was reading against the lines he had as well.
MILES BENNET DYSON - haven't you seen the bad shit that cyborgs can do in previous films!
Aquaman - oh my god, when moist Conan slowly poked his fork at the screen, Adam and I were nearly in bits watching it. Who thought that was a good idea.
I enjoyed Ben Affleck as Batman, and Irons was good as Alfred. Cavill was better than in most of what I have seen him in, but he was a supporting character in the film.
Doomsday was handled badly in the way the fight was handled. We did not need the energy bursts, simply have him grow bits back in the fight to up the threat. After all Batman effectively disappears for a bit of the fight.
Liked Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
Larry Fishburne wasted again as Perry.

Were Metropolis and Gotham in this film different cities hundreds of miles apart (Washington and New York) or were they different districts in one larger city (Brooklyn and Manhattan)?
