What do we think about this, Cyber-pals? I have such high hopes, I really want this to work. There's a teaser trailer about. Looks pretty exciting.

I think I will probably end up seeing it at some point. But I certainly aren't planning to cram into a packed cinema on opening weekend for it. (Not that there is much I am considering doing that for at all these days).
As far as the trailer goes, I thought it was excruciatingly dull visually - with almost everything seeming to be unremittingly grey-on-grey. The voiceover I thought was painfully portentous, and in line with the terribly "worthy" tone of the worst of Man of Steel. And the last few seconds made me feel like someone sonewhere decided that "lets take cool bit from Dark Knight Returns, that'd be awesome", without really seeing that DKR works the way it does because it is set up as thematic ending rather than a beginning. So far my over-riding feeling is the Ben Affleck is great casting as Batman, in a rather unpromising looking film.
But that's just my feelings - as someone who wears his late Silver Age influences on his sleeve when it comes to some Superheroes.

I was surprised how much I liked Ben Affleck in the brief amount we saw him in the teaser.

I've never managed to muster much enthusiasm for the DC universe. I've always been a marvel fan. I haven't watched the last Batman film yet, let alone however many Superman reboots there have been. I love the Christopher Reeve films but beyond that I'm not really bothered.

Same here, thought DCs TV output has been excellent of late and if Arrow and Flash were going to be part of this I'd be really quite excited about the whole thing. Instead it's just Man of Steel which was just bad. A friend is a huge Superman fan and still says the film was great, I can only assume hes in denial.
My gut instinct is that this will be better than Man of Steel, because the dark moody tone of that film looks like it actually should be in this one. But frankly being better than MOS is a low low bar and it still feels so rushed. They maybe didn't need to go full Marvel, but a bit of build up wouldn't have hurt before throwing their two biggest characters together.
If they establish that this Batman is basically the one from the Nolan films then it sort of works, Batman comes out of retirement because an alien suddenly appears and can pretty much do what he likes, thats a bit worrying given that all the destruction in MOS is a result of him just being on Earth.
Afflecks casting never concerned me, beyond the fact DC have decided to launch their new cinematic universe with a middle aged Batman. It's not a choice that scream longevity.

I'm far more Marvel than I am DC, but there is something I've always loved about Superman-Batman. I hope they pull this off.

It just looks too bleak. I'll wait for the reviews- if they say "bleak" too I'll skip it like Man of Steel. I love the DC Animated Universe, but their non-Batman films have got such an awful track record I've given up giving them the benefit of the doubt. I watched Green Lantern and Jonah Hex. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Three or four times? I'd have to be some sort of massive idiot.
All that said... if it's not bleak, then I'll be there like a shot!

Teaser has me all kinds of excited. Interested to see how they handle Batman origin given the differing canon. I guess the assumption that we know it by now is a good one.
I've never worried about Affleck as Wayne, as Bats... well probably not too many lines.
Bat suit looks awesome.
Mechanised bat suit is all kinds of DKR.
But then i had high hopes about MoS and came away disappointed so meh.

Is it not wrong, that I, a conscientious young movie and comic-book superhero fan, should not be getting slightly ever-so very excited about this movie concerning the two most iconic comic-book characters in the world?
(I'm 'doing' the trailer...)

It depends. If the trailer doesn't inspire excitement in you, then it doesn't inspire excitement in you. Every piece of fiction should be judged on its own merits after all. If it is any help I have mentally parked this one in the "will time things so I have had my two films worth of quality so it doesn't matter so much being as it is technically free" slot for whenever it comes out.

I'm still convinced this will be a trainwreck of a movie. Too many running changes. Too many characters getting added in because "they're popular right now!" Also, too many origins and concepts needing to be explained. We need to learn how the world reacts to the events of MoS. we need to introduce Clark, and set him up into this new world, exploring his relationship with Lois. We need to introduce Lex Luthor, and whatever villanous plot he sets up. That is a full movie in it's own right there. But are we done? Not yet. Let's add in Batman! Wait, the Batman we have doesn't fit in this world. So we need a new batman that does. So there's the exposition of how he fits in. People want Wonderwoman, right? Awesome! So now we have Diana, and have to explain the Amazons, explain who she is, and how she fits into this world. Oh oh oh! Aquaman!!! We can do Aquaman, and we can make him COOOOOOOL! So now we have to explain this character and his concepts to an audience who really doesn't know him at all. (Batman, superman, and WW, are both well known ENOUGH that they can gloss some things). So, now we're working from scratch. Hey, you know what? We got batman, let's do robin! So now we have to explain sidekicks and their roles in this new universe. Aw, shit. Now they're saying there's not enough diversity? Let's get that black robocop dude! You know, the cyborg guy! What's his name again? I think he was in that x-men book. Now we gotta explain him, too.
So logically, it's going to be all over the place, and no one is going to get any real character development.
That said... The trailer is pretty cool. I just still think it'll be a disaster of a trainwreck.

I just still think it'll be a disaster of a trainwreck. That's how it starts... The fever, the rage... the feeling of powerlessness... that turns good Texans... Disturbingly insightful...

Hilarious! I begind to wonder if this is a knowing parody. It must be. If you were going to parody DARK SUPERHERO COMICS you would have a scene where an angry Superman comes to get chained-up Batman. I guffawed.

That is hilarious. I mean, genuinely I found that really funny. I started laughing at the point Superman flew into the drain and the Waffen SS style blokes knelt down. From there it just got funnier.
I'd love to believe that it is deliberately that ridiculous...

I love how nobody else thought to take his mask off already. It's not as good as the bit in G.I. Joe: Retaliation where Snake-Eyes is arrested for assassinating Pakistan's President, and only at the point where they are about to put him in cryo for all eternity does the jailer remove his mask and finds it was Storm Shadow all along. The toy of that Batman has been shown. He is called Knightmare Batman. Not a helmet or quest bag to be seen though.
As ridiculous the trailer is (obvious dream sequence) I do think Ben Affleck does look the part of Batman.
