That was a great episode today! I spy new avatar material, though how long is one supposed to wait before something isn't spoilers? (with the rate of watching on this forum I am guessing ten years??)

Aye, spoilering everything past the first dozen episodes is getting a tad tedious. and you know after ALL this time, it still never occurs to me until the end, that Garnet already knows what will happen. She knew that Navy's plan was to steal a ship the crystals didn't really need. She knew that Navy would be non-violent and nothing Steven, Lapis, and Peri couldn't deal with safely. And she knew (from logic) they needed to do something about the rubies sooner or later. But I never see it coming until the end. [/spoilers]

So uh Do we think Pearl had something to do with Pink Diamonds death? It felt a bit set up to make you think the other diamonds were involved, but they seemed legitimately upset, and there were witnesses to the event (Eyeball was there)

Well, The Crystal Gems have no reason to lie to Steven about Rose shattering PD. Pearl is terrified of losing Steven. Be it through abduction, death, or losing his love. However, him being able to hold Rose in high regards is also important, and I think she would lie to protect rose's image (taking the blame and letting him think she shattered PD) before lying to protect her own (letting Rose take the blame if Pearl did it, so Steven doesn't think any less of Pearl).
The Crystal Gems have been isolated for 5,000 years. They literally have no reason at all to cover up who killed Pink Diamond. So I think they genuinely believe Rose shattered her. Plus, there are a lot of eye witnesses placing Rose there.
The other thing is this: White Diamond. She is a total and complete unknown in this. And I think she's a big piece of this puzzle. I don't think we'll start to really figure this out without knowing about her.
On a side note, I think Crystal Pearl was White Diamond's personal Pearl.

I just realized something. Rhodonite is a Ruby/Pearl fusion. And she looks after Padpardscha, which is a sapphire type. This is not useful information, but I find it neat.
I'm honestly surprised that at this point, we've yet to see an Emerald.

I have been trying for years to get my sister into Steven Universe. Before I ever tried, someone got her to watch the first episode and she shut down. But because she RPs with SU players, she keeps coming to me with questions about the characters, how they work, and why they're such a big deal. I *know* she will like it if I can get her to open up to it and start with the episodes I tell her to (bypassing episodes like Gem Glow and Frybo), but I just can't convince her of this. Tonight, she found out "Stronger than You" is an SU song, and not a fanmade Undertale song, and watching the original (even though it spoils Garnet) has now moved her closer faster than all the last several years of all my attempts. I just can't seem to convince her that it's a slow burn series that has HUGE rewards for patience, without jumping to those payoffs. Which without the buildup aren't nearly as rewarding (like Garnet) . I'm really at a loss.

Out of the blue, I found new Steven Universe lego type blocks. At last, something resembling an actual SU toyline! In lego format, which is actually a really good place for it! But... it's bloody McFarlane. No one sucks the joy out of legos like McFarlane Toys. No one sucks the joy out of TOYS like McFarlane Toys.

They photograph better than they look in person. I got Peridot because I don't have anything Peridot. The BLOCKS stick together pretty well. They feel up to Megabloks and Lego quality. Definitely a step above Kreo, which always scared me because MacFarlane has always been shit quality. But the mini figures are awful. They're weirdly sized, even more weirdly built, and their quality is TERRIBLE. She can barely stand upright. The disruptor stick she has is frighteningly fragile, and a really tight fit into her weirdly shaped hand slots.

Okay, so a few days to process this. And social media seems divided almost exclusively between "ROSE QUARTZ WAS THE WORST MONSTER THAT EVER EXISTED!!!!!!" and "uwu pink diamond is a perfect smol bean uwu she's my new unproblematic fav!!!" Both reactions seem equally stupid to me. But that's neither here, nor there.
I find it so stunning because it was kinda so left field. Usually when there's a plot bombshell about to be dropped on us, we can sense it coming. Usually it's the end of a major arc that they've spend a couple episodes building up to. "Rose Quartz is really Pink Diamond" was one of the oldest theories, and actually one I was on board for. But after we'd learned so much about the Diamonds, I think I kinda forgot.
I'm still kinda in "....wow" mode. Lots of stuff about Pearl makes so much more sense, now, though.

I was convinced by the Rose=PD theory, then I thought it was rubbish and hated it as it seemed to take away all the interesting bits about the characters but then I absolutely loved how they did it. COME ON NEW EPISODES HURRY. Honestly the worst thing about the show is the shoddy scheduling. We could have easily had an episode a week and let things build. Oh well. I love how we first see PD in that flashback being a spoiled brat basically, and her dealing with Earth doesn't really seem well thought out past that. She doesn't think her family care about her, she fakes her death so she can basically dodge any sort of responsibility and confrontation and 'give the Earth to the Crystal Gems' and in doing so gets everyone NUKED. And uh wow, no-one knew. And Pearl was ordered not to tell. Poor Pearl Did Greg know?

And uh wow, no-one knew. And Pearl was ordered not to tell. Poor Pearl Did Greg know? I don't think Greg knew. You notice with hindsight every time we come near this subject, anytime steven asked Pearl about Pink Diamond, or his mother's involvement, Pearl always clasped her hands to her mouth. It always read before that it was just too horrific for her talk about. But she just can't help it. It's physically programmed into her.
Then there's the abandoned human zoo! That adds an even darker spin on Rose! Was Pink Diamond it's creator, or did Blue Diamond make it, in an effort to keep Pink? Surely she'd approached the Diamonds saying the earth shouldn't be destroyed, that there's too much life there. I could see that. "Look Pink. You have your own pet humans you can play with anytime you want! Come home!"
I too love the spoiled brat introduction Pink got. It does two things: it made this revelation seem less likely on the surface for a number of reasons, and it also really helps imply soooo much character development.
I don't particularly blame her for her choices, even though they were bad ones. As far as she understood, the diamonds would have just left Earth alone after that. Blue probably would have, too. Yellow is a vindictive oversized shit, though. Plus, the death of a diamond creates a beacon of hope for all the offcolors, and those who don't want to live under their thumbs. She probably thought it would trigger an uprising in other colonies. And in her defence, nothing like any of this had ever been done. No one had defied the Diamonds in such a way before. And the Diamonds' responce was literally the worst case scenario. I'm sure it never crossed anyone's minds that they would nuke everything from orbit, murdering thousands of Gems, rather than lose.
One could say she could have done more by staying a Diamond and trying to get the others on board. But I also don't agree with this. Yellow wouldn't be swayed. Pink was a childish annoyance to her, and was just ignored. Blue seemed to treat her as a pet child. Someone to be lavished with affection and given everything she wants, but not to be listened to or respected as an equal. And we still have no clue about anything to do with White. I have a feeling she's the worst one of all.
She made some bad choices. But I kinda understand them. They were made by a child, who didn't expect her parents to react as horribly or extremely as they did.
