Movie year masterpieces is a very appealing thought. More so than anniversary beast wars for me. Hot Rod wouldn't top my list though. I'd like Springer and Galvatron.

Original Rodimus was 2011 but was in the older scale and notoriously prone to problems.

It isn't that for me because I don't have MP Rodimus. I'm gagging for him and I'm hoping for some kind of fixed reissue next year, at least for the Asia market as they haven't had him reissued yet. But Hot Rod alone is less appealing and reduces that possibility somewhat.
We've got Magnus, we need Galvatron. But then I suppose you could say the same about Megatron.

Original Rodimus was 2011 but was in the older scale and notoriously prone to problems. i think the scale is fine. His robot is about the height of MP10 as Rodimus, which feels right to me. Same with the planes. If you stand G1 Starscream by G1 Prime and Mp10 next to 11 the scale difference is negligible. |

Mp rodimus is fine as rodimus, but not as mp hotrod so iget having hotrod on the list, but yeah galvatron, scorge, cyclonus springer and even kup could be justified before him.

Sadly they're going the stupid way.
We already got a pretty horrid sunbow accurate one.
This one should be more toy inspired, which had a hella rad vehicle that looked like it could actually exist.
Sunbow's looked like some bland thing Floro Dery coughed up (oh wait)
But it looks like they're shooting themselves in the foot all over again.

I love Hot Rod's animation model. The vehicle mode was my ideal car for a long time. The toy was almost a disappointment when I saw it.
I'd love a Hot Rod that nails the two well, but alas, the closest we've had that's affordable is the Animated one.

Actually going by the revious MP colours, we probably will get a black Hot Rod again, as boring as that is. I can't see what else they could colour him as. That said, I am still waiting for the inevitable Masterpiece Piss Magnus (aka homaging the first weird recolour, Matrix Glow Magnus from way back in 2001) |

Which post MP10 mould has had the fewest uses? Magnus, Star Sabre and the Decepticon cassettes have only had one use. Every other mould has had at least one other release, so maybe Hot Rod would just get a black version? They seem averse to remoulding figures into other ones that don't use an identical mould in the MP line, which is a very good thing, so Hot Rod is pretty limited. And will be be a Targetmaster?
Actually, is it the case that every mould they make they're releasing every retail version the original mould had across Transformers and Diaclone? does that work?

Grimlock only got a limited edition 'comic colours' repaint didn't, he, rather than a mass release one.
Megatron recently got that all-gold one though it was a long time after the original!
Has there really been no recolours of the tapes? That... that surprises me, I thought those would have been obvious candidates.I want my Masterpiece Blackcat, dammit!

I wow, I forgot about Crystal Rodimus, I was obsessed with getting one of those at one point, it just looked so beautiful! Of course, that was back when recolours were an exciting and novel thing.
Nowadays I know that due to the qualities of transparent plastic it would just be a masterpiece 'Rodimus that will shatter like glass in your hands'
