I've almost gotten over the flat chest. But I just cant make any sense of Hotrod having thicker arms than legs.
It looks ridiculous and is in no way toy or animation accurate. It's the first masterpiece that has really missed the mark for me.
Even Ironhide and Magnus were essetially right, they just suffer from unwanted hangings on.

I have no interest in listening to a monotone American stutter and bumble his way through a video for 30 minutes. Give me 5 minutes of the brilliantly hilarious and possibly mental Thew Adams any day. I was considering doing to-the-point unboxing and review videos until I discovered his. From anyone worried about the fishing rod, this is how a real life fishing rod looks. The reel goes under the handle as indeed it did on his rod in the cartoon, I've literally no idea why he thinks it goes the other way. |

So, coming this week, and Maz posted some photos and slightly worrying news:
It seems that paint may chip easily if not transformed properly, and his came with chrome wear on the engine. Is Hot Rod the cursed masterpiece?

Hmm, so thats a pass for me. The arms and legs dont look quite as bad as I thought, but the chest is terrible. From just the right angles it looks half way to not horrible, but from every other view....
Its even too flat in car mode which would surely have been the only good reason for it being flat at all.
If it ever turns up at TRU and then gets marked down to half price I might bite. Who'd have thought given Takaras current run of Masterpieces that they'd manage to make something worse than MP9?
Well Jetty would have obviously, but who else?

I'm willing to reserve judgement; I was never as down on Ironhide as most were but even then I was taken aback at just how good he was in-hand. I even had some doubts about Tracks which were immediately dispelled. Between both of these I regret cancelling my MP BB pre-order, as well!

Mines here, been opened and transformed. No paint chipping. He's got good poseability, but yeah, needed to go on a bit of a diet

I have had a shot of Andu's MP Rodders so now have an opinion. Horrible toy! Looks awful and the transformation is just not fun. Sorry! Also, it has a space for a Matrix but no accessory to put in there. What is the fooking point?
The 80's Hot Rod toy is far superior! It looks better and is more fun to play with by far.

Finally here (same reason as MP27). I disagree with the comments about him looking out of proportion. Really feel that pics don't do him justice. His torso seems a lot narrower in person than in pics.
I will agree that the transformation makes him feel fragile, not as bad as the original Hot Rodimus Masterpiece, but still - it all stems from the need to have the back of the car fold up, thin shoulder connections and thin bonnet.

Do not drop him, even gently from any height or you will incur paint damage.
Nice looking, but far, far too flimsy.
