To be fair, her being a BIG DEAL was 100% down to the PVCs. Remember those? Those were a BIG DEAL as well. A rare chance to own a representation of a G1 character. Also, I believe the PVCs were the first official use of the term "Generation One" which is semi interesting, if not important.

And the anticipation of what will be in each wave! And trying to get the set and ending up with a transparent Chromedome and half a Metroplex leg! Good times, good times.

It really is a good job, the Shockwave ones n'all! Where is Big Phil getting his photshopy/digibash powers from? HAS HE STOLEN THEM FROM BOGATAN?!?! HAS PHIL TAKEN OVER BOGATAN?!?!

They do predate the dreamwave comic, though not by much. I think they started during late RiD. Edit: They started in 2000, the japanese releases. tfwiki.net/wiki/Heroes_of_CybertronThe Heroes of Cybertron releases began in 2002. So yeah, ljust before Dreamwave was a thing.

Ha! That would be unlikely. I'm sure they'll do a Nemesis Hot Rod before that.
Although, I don't think *anyone* was expecting G2 Sideswipe, so you never know...

MP has been good to Marvel, surprisingly. Marvel Grimlock, G2 Sideswipe, and to a lesser degree, G2 Bumblebee. Outside of optimus, they really haven't done hardly any superfluous repaints like Black Megatron, Black Starscream, Ghost Starscream, Crystal Hotrodimus. Everything they've done has been a specific portrayal. Red Bumblebee seems to be the one that breaks this.

Doesn't look bad. But I'm still going to wait for reviews before I decide whether or not to buy him.

Finally a masterpiece I'm not sure I like the look of. Looks like he missed leg day at the gym, every day.

Yes, the legs, in particular, look poor. Not for me.

Okay, looking a little more interesting now. I mean, sure, he has a fishing rod. But if he doesn't come with a PVC figure of a teenage girl showing off her underwear, then I'm just not interested...

If there was anything that was going to win me over with this one, though, it's the fact that he keeps the sacred Matrix of Leadership in his belly button... Oh no NO! That looks ridiculous! It's in his freakin' BELLY!!!

That Matrix storage is... odd.
But then again, Hot Rod doesn't even have a Matrix storage section (paging Phil to prove me wrong)

This is getting a bit unlikely... That's one new MP a month from Nov for five months, plus mall exclusive Clampdown... When did MPs suddenly become monthly!?

Sorry. I'll stop now.

When they stopped being "masterpieces" and became just "nice toys". Sorry. I'll stop now. Well. One day. You're right. I was looking at the Shockwave trying to think why I'm underwhelmed, and it struck me he reminds me of the cold cast statuette/busts of the Sunbow figures that came out a few years ago. It's all too smooth and simple.
