As Hasbro seems to be hinting the next Titan is "unexpected," and the fact there are only a few TFs that work in this scale, what do you think works?
-Omega Supreme -Unicron -Primus -Sky-Lynx -Scorponok (I disagree, but I digress) -Tidalwave
These are really honestly the only obvious ones. And that's SIX YEARS worth, and honestly I think they'll give up the class long before then.
But consider the unexpected. -The Ark -The Nemesis -Raiden/Railracer -Predaking -Piranacon -Monstructor -new Titanosaur dinobot

And before you nuke this thread Phil, this is not a wish list. This is about a discussion of how the class can still work without the four citybots.

Its an odd one. The class is clearly so far at least, for characters that are portrayed as big rather than for big g1 toys. Meaning a titan class monstrucfor is more likely than a titan overlord. But at the same time being so expensive they need name recognition.
most likely for me would be: Unicron/primus predaking scorponok omega supreme
I suppose thinking a little outside the box a boxset of dinobots would also be a contender. No need to make them combiners, hasbros upcoming TR boxsets (and previous movie/platinum types) show theyve moved past combiner boxsets and moved on to botcon style assorted set. Such a boxset would be thw best way to get all 5 dinobots out. At the same price point as devastator with no combiner gimmick and one less figure they could really do them justice in a way individually released figures couldnt.
You probably want Sludge to be the biggest figure which would mean making him the leader class toy. As individual releases the urge would surely be to give grimlock that slot. If sludge is done as a voyager hes likely scaled down in comparison to slag and snarl. At the other end of the scale Swoop probably is a little too big at voyager and too small at deluxe.
but in a boxset Swoop can be around mega class. Sludge around leader class and the other three somewhere around voyager and ultra class.

I don't think the Dinobots suffer from retail suicide the same way some of the combiner teams do, simply because the Dinobots aren't combiners, and thus don't need to be released at the same time. What hurts the predacons and constructicons is they need to be released in one wave. You have five or six similarly shaped, identically colored toys all on the shelf at the same time. The Dinobots however could put out a a Legend Slash and deluxe Snarl in wave one, Voyager Grimlock in wave two, leader Sludge in wave 3, deluxe Swoop and Slag in wave 4, and voy Scorn in wave 5. That sounds like a LOT, but that's close to a year time span, and there are a lot of other figures mixed in, creating more variety on the shelves instead of a solid mass of halloween colored robot cats and ungulates, plus bird. (Mind you, this is not me saying I don't want a non combining titan class dinobot set, just that they don't face the same problem)

I know the dinobots can be released individually they did it for aoe, but the movie dinobots were supposed to be huge and we ended up with mostly deluxes and a relatively tiny voyager sludge. If titan class is about making big characters in to big or bigger toys then the dinobots seem like a very valid option.

UNICRON!!
Unicron is so iconic, the ultimate baddie. He'd really benefit from the Titan treatment. Especially if he would actually transform into a ROUND planet mode.
I think they're gonna do Scorponok out of Trypticon. They're gonna need to get another name out of the mold. Even though I too don't see the Scorponok character needing to be as large as that.
And Omega Supreme should be done. He'd sell. That'd be a marvelous toy. They could do a blue repaint for Blue'. Army build that!

Omega Supreme does need to happen. I've been swaying on whether to buy the 3P one that's coming out.
I'd hate myself if I shelled out nearly £400 for that then an official one was announced.

I know what you mean, Triple B, although 400 smackeroos was prob' never on the cards for me. That 3P Omega is IMMENSE though. Very impressive. As big as a Man!!! It would be an awesome thing to own.

Someone did a mock up of Trypitcon as Omega & it looked like he was having a shit. I can't remember the page but it looks funny if you find it

Okay, but consider this: Instead of doing remolds as Metro/Max are, they start using the new part sharing technique instead? Random example: Instead of Raiden being an entirely new mold, it uses Omega's tracks, and some of it's connecting parts?

I was gonna make a thread a out this very subject, stating many of the same things I already said here, only to check and see to find out I already had a while back.
Also, I was surprisingly on point on how close things actually played out.

So does this mean that Predaking *is* the Titan Class figure for this line? Or is that gonna be for 2018, and there'll be a Unicron (or sommat) (it'll be Unicron) for 2019..?

|
Post by Philip Ayres on Sept 18, 2017 8:26:55 GMT
They'll be yearly Titans from now on cos Hasbro can see us & our wallets coming.
Predaking for 2018.
Unicron's a possibility for 2019. That year's Titan would be right on the point where POTP becomes whatever happens next. Now if they go Titans Return Again then that would make Scorponok a possibility too, but hey, who doesn't want a Unicron who's head comes off and transforms into a mini Unicron?

Well we already had a Titan Class figure without a headmaster gimmick. I guess Unicron can have another gimmick instead. Like eating smaller Transformers or something.
...
Hang on...

Omega Supreme. It's the only one that actually works at this size. Devastator and Predaking are just god awful. Metroplex and Trypticon are so big that they're gonna be massively undersized, no matter what price point they're at. And Fort Max and Scorponok should be leader class. Cmdr class maximum.

Omega for me too. He's just perfect. I love my Devastator, the only other Titan I own, but he is pretty poor generally speaking.
Of the pictures I've seen, Fortress Maximus and Scorponok do look like pretty good toys. I never liked Metroplex's happy waist.

Close call between Trypticon and Omega Supreme, the only titans I have (would love a Scorponok but don't see me being able to afford it unless he goes on sale like Trypticon did).
Omega works brilliantly at this scale, especially in robot mode. Base mode is weaker but in his case it's the robot I'm there for mostly and this does it so, so well.
Tryp is a winner in both modes - wonderful base that really feels like a base with doorways and rooms and ramps and platforms; comes with a deluxe TR figure (and can be further accessorised with Siege Brunt and/or Siege Flywheels!); Dino mode is kind of cute, my daughter loved picking him up and carrying him around the flat like a pampered pet; the eating titan masters / bot bots gimmick is great.
Now that I've written that it looks like I find Trypticon a runaway winner, but in my mind it's still close as it's _so_ amazing to have that Omega Supreme

Metroplex gets my vote. As the first Titan, the toy had an impact, a wow factor, that none of the others have had. Plus he's the only character that I feel truly fits this size. (At least in terms of original iterations of the characters - Omega Supreme has been impressively upscaled for Netflix.)
Scorponok is a great toy but he's not a Titan-sized character to me.
Fortress Maximus loses marks for being a remould.
Those are the only three I have direct experience of. I'll soon be the owner of Omega Supreme, so look forward to forming an opinion. I didn't like the look of Devastator so he was an easy pass for me at the price; I only just learned that Predaking existed, and he looks far too lanky for my liking. I would love to have Trypticon; if/when I get him (rather than just see someone play with him across a convention floor), I would think he's the most likely to compete with Metroplex for my top spot.
