Does it add much that wasn't in the original DWM articles the book is based on? I am tempted to pick it up at some point, but not if it's just a reprint of the DWM stuff. -Ralph Lots. Artist profiles, much bigger book covers, unused covers and sketches.

Russel T Davies and the editor of Doctor Who magazine were on BBC's Breakfast News briefly at 09:05hrs to promote a book they have produced based on email discussions during the last season and a bit back and forth about the writing process and what not.
They were on for about eight minutes, and one of the Kylie clips was duly trotted out. (Clearly the BBC are still inordinately pleased about that guest appearance.)

Ah right I see. The book is being promoted rather more heavily than most Doctor Who behind-the-scenes books.

I almost bought the hardcover last month. I'm very glad I stayed my hand. I would have been most miffed otherwise.

Will anyone be getting Matthew Waterhouse's book. The excerpts in this month's DWM are cringe-worthy to say the least.

First I have heard of it. £20 is a bit pricey for some fanzine reprints though. Is it actually any good?
I see from the bottom of that screen that the intensely tiresome 'Jackie Jenkins' is back and has a book out. Oh, fuck off and write media-pretension-bolloks-in-your-own-toilet you harpie

Amazon UK or Telos.co.ukWiped! Doctor Who's Missing Episodes
by Richard Molesworth
In the 1960s, the BBC screened 253 episodes of its cult science fiction show Doctor Who, starring William Hartnell and then Patrick Troughton as the time travelling Doctor. Yet by 1975, the Corporation had wiped the master tapes of every single one of these episodes. Of the 124 Doctor Who episodes starring Jon Pertwee shown between 1970 and 1974, the BBC destroyed over half of the original transmission tapes within two years of their original broadcast.
In the years that followed, the BBC, along with dedicated fans of the series, began the arduous task of trying to track down copies of as many missing Doctor Who episodes as possible. The search covered BBC sales vaults, foreign television stations, overseas archives, and numerous networks of private film collectors, until the tally of missing programmes was reduced to just 108 episodes.
For the first time, this book looks in detail at how the episodes came to be missing in the first place, and examines how material subsequently came to be returned to the BBC. Along the way, those people involved in the recovery of lost slices of Doctor Who's past tell their stories in candid detail, many for the very first time.
No more rumours, no more misinformation, no more fan gossip. The truth about Doctor Who's missing episodes can now be told in full!
Note: Please do not query non-receipt of orders until 28 working days after the publication date (see bar on right hand side) or the date the order was placed, whichever is the later.
250pp approx. A5 paperback book ISBN 978-1-84583-037-3 (pb)
A fine read so far....
